EL TAMBOR
Decades ago, farmers on this land heard loud thumps underground, but only during the rainy season. It's thought to be a giant underground waterfall, but it hasn't been heard since World War II. This is where the name El Tambor or drum comes from.
This award-winning Palencia farm was built in 1930 as a cattle farm and coffee was grown in 1966. In 1930, the Franco family bought small farms and founded El Tambor. In 2001, the Calderon family bought El Tambor and traded it for a house closer to the coast where they had previously farmed. From November to March, El Tambor's climate is cold and cherries ripen slowly, producing a typically sweet sweetness. El Tambor excelled in the Excellence Awards, winning in 2007, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
