Front Street-Indonesia Coffee Region Introduction

Sumatra, Indonesia's second largest island, is separated by the Strait of Malacca to the north and faces the Malay Peninsula. It extends from northwest to southeast, with the equator passing through its middle. The terrain is high in the northwest, and the Barisan Mountains run through it. Arabica is the main producing area of Mantenin. Southeast low, mostly flat or swamp, mainly to Robusta varieties. The island has more than 90 volcanoes and a large number of volcanic lakes, providing fertile soil for coffee growth.

Notable coffee producing areas in Sumatra include the Gayo Mountains (Aceh producing area), Lintong(Lintong producing area) and Sidikalang(West Garang).

At present, the best quality beans in Sumatra come from the GAYO mountains and are mostly planted with old trees. The Gayo Mountains are located in Acehn-producing areas of northern Sumatra province, between 1,500 and 2,500 meters above sea level. Most coffee farmers are native farmers, the GAYO people. The region has ideal conditions for growing coffee-high altitude, fertile soil, abundant rainfall, abundant water resources provided by Lake Tawar, and extensive organic methods of growing coffee without the use of chemical fertilizers, and is considered to be the world's green coffee producing region. Gayo coffee is often referred to as green coffee or organic coffee.

Located in the famous tourist area of Sumatra, LAKE TOBA(Toba Lake), Lindong producing area, coffee farmers come from the local Batak people, before the altitude of 1400-1800 meters, tree species have Jember, Garundang Typica, Ateng, etc., we are familiar with Mantenin is originally from this old origin, famous in the world.

Once, as demand soared, coffee farmers switched to higher-yielding hybrids, and the old iron pickup almost disappeared from this traditional region. However, the sharp decline in coffee quality has led to an increase in iron pickup production.

Sidikalang coffee is also well known locally, but mostly for the domestic market and not much for export. I won't get tired of it here.
