Starbucks introduced OATLY oatmeal milk into the drinks menu of US stores in March, but only a month later, some stores in the United States were unable to make such drinks because of temporary shortages and strong demand.

It is understood that Starbucks introduced oatmeal milk lattes in about 1300 stores in the Midwest last year, and the product was really put on the menu in March this year.

On March 2 this year, Starbucks revealed that oatmeal milk will be promoted in all Starbucks stores in the United States from March 2.

Starbucks also said that oatmeal milk has become the new standard of milk choice for coffee shops and households in the United States, but the introduction of oatmeal milk is not a direct replacement for traditional milk, but to give consumers an additional choice.

At present, Starbucks is unable to produce the drink because of a shortage of oatmeal milk, but so far, Starbucks has not disclosed the extent of the impact of the shortage.

Starbucks advises customers to choose other dairy-free alternatives, such as soy milk, almond milk or coconut milk. Starbucks has previously launched three types of non-dairy milk: soy milk, coconut milk and almond milk.

In fact, as early as April 2018, there was a shortage of oatmeal milk in the US market.

Because OATLY oatmeal milk is so popular with US consumers, OATLY said in 2018 that it was facing "huge demand" in several European markets, which directly led OATLY to buy more of its production facilities overseas. According to statistics, OATLY sold 71482745 litres of oatmeal milk in 2018 alone.

At the end of March this year, there was also news that oatmeal milk OATLY was in short supply in the United States: due to increased demand for oatmeal milk and epidemic factors, the construction of the plant was delayed, and the US market of OATLY (Oh Malay), the world's largest Swedish oatmeal brand, was in short supply. The regions where OATLY's oatmeal milk supply was in short supply in the United States included Starbucks, FreshDirect, the US online retailer, supermarkets and Oatly's official website, OATLY said at the time. The plant is currently under construction and will produce enough oatmeal milk to meet market demand in the next few months.

As a new botanical drink, oatmeal milk has attracted much attention from the global oatmeal giant OATLY in recent years.

At present, OATLY has entered more than 20 countries around the world, has three factories and tens of thousands of cafes across the country. In July last year, OATLY completed a financing of 200 million US dollars, with a valuation of about 2 billion US dollars, which immediately attracted everyone's attention after the news was released. Many people in the industry have said: OATLY this move may be to prepare for listing or acquisition. At the time, BBC also reported that the financing would be used for OATLY to expand its current major markets, such as Europe, the United States and Asia, but so far, there has been no news of OATLY listing or acquisition.

Today, consumer demand for plant milk is growing strongly, which also means that if nothing happens, OATLY will have good prospects in the future.
