This kind of tea comes from Tongmu pass in Wuyi Mountain, Fujian Province, China. The tea garden is located at an altitude of 1000 meters. The tea garden is completely sustainable and tea trees do not use pesticides and chemical fertilizers.
Tong Mu Narcissus black tea is made from Zhengshan race.
This kind of tea is made by the traditional Zhengshan race black tea after the Shuixian variety. But we don't call it Zhengshan race. Because the standard of Zhengshan race is to use local tea in paulownia wood. The name race originally refers to the local tea growing in Tongmuguan.
Two Zhengshan races
At present, there are two Zhengshan races in Tongmuguan.
1. A famous tea with a smoky smell.
2. Type, let the sweet fruit aroma, no smoke smell, by tea such as gas clock and small sweet (Little Red Gan).
Generally speaking, the traditional Zhengshan race has a smoky flavor, and the fruit-scented Zhengshan race is usually considered to be a newly developed Zhengshan race. But I believe in another period of history.
Zhengshan race is also known as the model of Earl Grey tea. It is said that the origin of Earl Grey Tea is like this: an Englishman drank Zhengshan race black tea in the 19th century. He was impressed by the tropical fruit flavor. Later, in order to imitate this flavor, he added bergamot flavor to the black tea. If the traditional Zhengshan race is smoked tea, why doesn't Earl Grey tea become smoked tea?
In the 19th century, due to the great demand for Zhengshan race, Jimen tea was developed according to the method of making Zhengshan race black tea. If Qimen black tea at that time was made of smoked Zhengshan race, then Qimen black tea should also have a smoky flavor. However, the standard Qimen black tea is not smoked at all.
These historical stories may not be 100% accurate, but from here we can imagine that there has been a fruity version of Zhengshan race black tea since the 17th century.
Very rare black tea
Narcissus is a famous variety of oolong tea (rock tea) in Wuyi. Daffodils are popular because they taste good. The aftertaste is strong and lasting. However, the taste of daffodils is generally not so gorgeous. Only a skilled tea master can bring out the taste of tea. At present, daffodils account for less than 1% of the total tea production in Tongmuguan. This is a very rare kind of tea.
Before the 1970s, daffodils were planted by many farmers. Later, however, many trees were removed.
There are two reasons.
First of all, a professor in Fujian said that in Tongmuguan, where the climate is relatively cold, the aroma of daffodils may be weak.
The second reason is that before 2000, black tea was not popular in China's domestic market, so the price of tea was very low, and it was difficult for farmers, especially in remote areas. For this reason, many farmers have cut down tea trees and replaced them with more profitable agricultural products, such as bamboo, which is used as raw materials for making chopsticks.
