Friends who have a habit of drinking coffee have heard people around you say such a word to you.

For a long time, drinking coffee has been considered unhealthy by many people. Because coffee contains caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, can stimulate the central nervous system, causing sympathetic excitement, further stimulate heart contraction, resulting in rapid heartbeat, palpitation and other performance. Therefore, whenever this happens, people will "naturally" throw the pot to the coffee first. But recently, at the 71st annual scientific meeting of the American College of Cardiology, Peter M. Kistler, MD, professor and head of arrhythmia research at Alfred University, said that drinking coffee, especially two or three cups of coffee a day, not only reduces the risk of heart disease and arrhythmias, but also prolongs life.

Peter M. Kistler said: "because coffee can increase the heart rate, some people worry that drinking coffee can cause or worsen some heart problems, so many doctors will advise to stop drinking coffee when there is a heart problem. But our research data show that although drinking coffee makes the heart beat faster, coffee has a neutral effect when consumed correctly and in the right amount. This means that coffee is not necessarily bad for the heart, but in moderate amounts is good for heart health. After assessing the patient's other physical conditions, doctors should correctly guide some people with / without heart disease to eat coffee in moderation as part of a healthy diet. " Peter M. Kistler and his team studied data from a large forward-looking database, UK BioBank. They were divided into groups according to the coffee consumption filled in by the questionnaire made at the time of registration: 0 and 5 cups per day. The researchers then analyzed the relationship between heart rhythm problems and different coffee intake of one to six cups a day, and whether daily coffee intake was directly related to death in patients with cardiovascular disease and non-cardiovascular disease.

The first study involved 382500 adults with an average age of 57 without cardiovascular disease. The researchers found that subjects who drank two or three cups of coffee a day later had the lowest risk of heart problems that the study focused on (the idea that drinking coffee affects heart health). People who drank about one cup of coffee a day had the lowest risk of stroke or death from cardiovascular disease.

The second study involved 34279 adults with some kind of cardiovascular disease, and drinking two to three cups of coffee a day was associated with lower mortality than not drinking coffee. According to data analysis, drinking any amount of coffee does not increase the risk of heart rhythm problems, including atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. At the same time, 24111 of the subjects in the study had arrhythmias, and coffee drinkers had a lower risk of death.

The researchers also said that clinicians are usually cautious when dealing with arrhythmias in patients, fearing that coffee may cause a dangerous heart rhythm, so they are advised to stop drinking coffee. But according to this study, regular moderate consumption of coffee is safe and can be part of a healthy diet for people with heart disease.

Peter M. Kistler said that coffee beans actually contain more than 100 bioactive compounds that can help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, increase insulin sensitivity, boost metabolism, inhibit intestinal fat absorption, and block receptors known to be associated with abnormal heart rhythm. The subjects of the third study examined the relationship between different types of coffee-caffeinated coffee, caffeinated instant coffee and non-caffeinated coffee-and the same health outcomes. Studies have shown that drinking two to three cups of black coffee a day can effectively reduce the risk of arrhythmias, clogged heart arteries, stroke or heart failure, whether it's freshly brewed coffee or instant coffee. Decaf does not play a positive role in preventing arrhythmias, but it can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease, except for psychological failure. Researchers can only study and analyze the effects of coffee on heart health based on survey data, and cannot clearly know the effects of dietary factors that may lead to cardiovascular disease, such as the intake of milk, milk or sugar.

The subjects of the study are mainly whites, and more studies are needed to determine whether this study is applicable to all populations. The subjects of this study were based on questionnaires filled out by patients, and Peter M. Kistler said the results should be verified in real-world randomized trials. Everyone has different tolerance for caffeine. If you feel unwell after drinking coffee, don't continue to drink it. Even if you can afford it, you can't eat too much coffee! You can't rely too much on coffee to achieve a refreshing effect! If there is too much, it is easy to backfire!
