COSTA Coffee is questioned?! All because of constantly increasing the sugar content of coffee products!
Coffee has always left consumers the impression that it has health benefits with its unique bitter taste, but drinking coffee is not as healthy as people think. Prepackaged coffee from Coca-Cola's coffee chain Costa is quietly increasing its sugar content, the Mirror reported.

According to the survey, vanilla lattes in Costa ready-to-drink products contain 14 grams of sugar per 250ml, while classic lattes contain 13 grams of sugar. The Mirror said the latest survey data were 1/3 more than those in 2019. Moreover, some products sell for only 1.25 pounds, which means they are very popular with teenagers.

The British NHS said that the daily sugar intake of children aged 4 to 6 should be limited to 19 grams, and that of children aged 7 to 10 should be limited to 24 grams. Health experts say the Coca-Cola chain ignored recommendations to reduce sugar intake to fight obesity and tooth decay.
Staff from Action on Sugar, a British sugar research group, said that although the British government was trying to push the food industry to take the initiative to reduce the sugar content of its products, the evidence showed that companies were not cooperating.
Costa said that the brand changed the overall taste of the product based on consumer feedback, and the total sugar content in the new formula increased, which was related to the sugar content of the milk in the raw material, not the result of the addition of extra sugar.

Too dependent on sweet substances, it is repeated every day in the eastern and western hemispheres. When humans eat sweet substances, the brain recognizes sweetness and produces dopamine, which makes people feel happy, which may be the reason for sugar craving.
In an effort to influence consumers' diet and sugar intake to combat the high incidence of diabetes in the country, some countries have specially formulated measures that require nutrition levels based on sugar content in prepackaged products as well as on menus. For example, Singapore's health minister announced at an event on August 11 that Singapore would ban advertising of high-sugar milk tea coffee online and offline next year in order to curb the development of diabetes.

In China, "the first cup of milk tea in autumn", "the first cup of coffee in autumn" and "milk tea bucket" have also become controversial, and domestic netizens hold different views on this kind of "sugar-coated shells". Consumers began to pay attention to the sugar content of these drinks and the sweet substances added, and the menu of merchants evolved from simple "whole sugar", "semi-sugar" and "less sugar" to the option of replacing sugar.

A cup of sweet milk tea can indeed bring a lot of happiness, at the same time bring a lot of health risks. Recently, a 37-year-old pregnant woman in Nanning, Guangxi, who drank nearly a cup of milk tea every day, found abnormal blood tests: high levels of triglycerides and symptoms of preterm delivery. Excessive fat and sugar also turned her blood into "milk brown", accompanied by diabetes, gestational diabetes, hyperglycemia and other diseases.
Momentary sweetness is necessary, but don't drink too much.
