It is understood that Starbucks Star Gift Card is a prepaid shopping card with savings function. After purchase, consumers will have corresponding balance, and they can also recharge the card to consume Starbucks 'goods.

The complaint that the consumer wants to make this time is that after the Star Gift Card expires, the balance in the card is deducted every month as an extension management fee, and if they do not take the initiative to inquire, there is no relevant deduction reminder. A consumer also published the deduction record of deferred management fee. It can be seen that the deferred management fee is not high. About 2-3 yuan is deducted at a time. According to the consumer,"it has been deducted for 22 consecutive months. If it is not checked recently, it is still in the dark." A consumer called 4008206998 (Starbucks customer service) to inquire about the reason. The feedback was that it was compliant and legal. The "deferred management fee" was charged according to the Starbucks Single-purpose Commercial Prepaid Card Regulations. The validity period of the Star Gift Card (prepaid card) was 3 years from the activation date. After expiration, the deferred management fee would be charged according to 1% of the account balance (minimum 2 yuan), and the deduction would be terminated immediately. Relevant rules have been explained on official website, App and Mini programs. Looking up in APP, there are indeed regulations to charge deferred management fees, and this description is especially bold. This regulation can be found on the APP binding star gift card interface, but confirmation binding does not need to select "tick" before reading the regulation, pressing the confirm button means that the user has read and accepted the content regulation inside.

In addition to not understanding Starbucks 'monthly deduction of deferred management fees after the expiration of the Star Gift Card, the most important complaint is that Starbucks has no obvious prompt when the Star Gift Card expires and after deducting the deferred management fee. After deducting the deferred management fee, the expired Star Gift Card can still be used normally. On the Black Cat complaint platform, the consumer said that it took more than a few months to discover that the star gift card expired.

There are also complainants who claim that the activation time of the "Star Gift Card" is too vague, and there is no start time or expiration time mark on the Star Gift Card, only the card back is marked with "The validity period of this card is valid for three years from the date of activation or the date of the last recharge, whichever occurs later." In this way, consumers will understand the "activation day" as the time to scratch the password and bind the Starbucks app. In fact, the "activation date" refers to the day the card is purchased.

Regardless of whether it is reasonable to charge deferred management fees for prepaid cards expired, at least the user's right to know should be guaranteed, rather than the user discovering that the money in the card has become less and less before discovering that the fee has been deducted.
