A coffee shop in Russia has launched breast milk coffee, and the price has quadrupled.

In the minds of milk coffee lovers, milk is no less important than coffee beans. Milk is always a more inclusive existence than bitter and sour coffee. From oatmeal milk, ice bok, thick coconut milk, to buffalo milk, super milk. The milk for coffee is becoming more and more tricky. Recently, a cafe actually used breast milk to make coffee.

A small local cafe has started serving breast milk coffee at four times the price of regular coffee, Russian online media Mash reported on May 16.

Maxim Kobelev, the owner of the cafe in the Russian city of Perm, which owns three cafes, said he had sold about 50 cups of specially made breast milk cappuccinos.

According to reports, Kobelev's breast milk coffee sells for 650 rubles (about 56 yuan) per cup, while cappuccino with the same specification of ordinary milk costs about 150 rubles (less than 13 yuan) in Russia. In other words, when milk is replaced with breast milk, the price of coffee has quadrupled.

Kobelev said that at present, about nine breast-feeding mothers provide breast milk to his cafe, with about 5 litres of milk a day, enough to meet the store's coffee brewing needs. Kobelev will pay the mothers who provide breast milk 1000 rubles (about 86 yuan) per bag.

With regard to food safety, Kobelev also mentioned that he insisted on requiring mothers who provided breast milk to produce all necessary medical documents to prove that their milk was safe to use.

A mother who provided breast milk told reporters that this is a large income for her. As their own breast milk is more abundant, their own children are also eating breast milk, so they can provide additional milk sources for coffee shops.

So far, the scale of this breastfed coffee is still very small and is not well known to a wide range of consumers. Kobelev said plans are under way to expand sales and look for more mothers to increase breast milk stocks. He said he hopes to sell 1000 cups of this special coffee a day by the end of the year.

It is worth mentioning that this kind of breast milk product can not be produced and sold in our country, and may be suspected of illegal operation. According to the "reply of the legal Supervision Department of the Ministry of Health on the non-commercial operation of human breast milk" made by the Ministry of Health on May 19, 2000, it is clear that human breast milk is not a general food resource, nor can it be produced and operated as a commodity.
