Demarcation line Manor Finca El Diviso
There are many well-known manors in Huilan producing area, such as the dividing line manor Finca El Diviso. The estate, a small 14-hectare farm, is a family business that has produced coffee for 27 years. Founded by Jose Uribe Lasso in 1996, it is now mainly run by his grandson Nestor Lasson and is mainly staffed by family and friends. Nestor is young and energetic, constantly striving for excellence in coffee cultivation and processing, not only dealing with varieties such as bourbon, Kaddura and Rosa, but also introducing rare varieties such as pink bourbon, claw and Castillo.
At the 2022 World Coffee Competition (WBC), Anthony Douglas, a contestant from Australia, took part in the demarcation estate and won the championship, which made the demarcation manor and the claw coffee variety a hit.
Claw variety Sidra
Sidra, which is also called Sydra or Bourbon Sidra by some farmers, means "apple juice" or "cider" in Spanish. The variety is generally considered to be the hybrid offspring of Typica and Bourbon. Later, genetic tests showed that it was genetically similar to the Ethiopian native species Heirloom. According to some sources, the Xizao variety is an experimental variety from a coffee breeding center set up by Nestl é in the northern Ecuadorian province of Pichincha. The agency's main task is to cross with native Ethiopian species and local iron pickups or bourbon. Although the agency was closed several years ago, it is believed to be "one of the unreleased varieties".
In coffee plants, claw varieties have slender leaves, five petals when flowering, dense fruit distribution, large and round fruits, slender beans, and relatively tall plants as a whole, up to 4 meters. Planting needs proper shade, high yield has antibodies to a variety of insect pests, but is easy to be infected with leaf rust and coffee berry disease.
