Introduction to Alpine Estate of Nicaragua's 2024 Excellence Cup COE Champion
In America, because it is located in the coffee growing belt and has a suitable geographical environment, there are many countries that grow coffee, such as Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras and so on. Although Nicaragua is not as well-known as other producing countries, the conditions for growing coffee are no less than those of other Central American countries.
Nicaragua Nicaragua
Nicaragua is located in central Central America, bordering Honduras and Costa Rica, and is a land, sea and preparation country, bordering the Caribbean Sea to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Nicaragua is also known as the country of lakes and volcanoes because it has 24 volcanoes, multiple lakes, rivers and saltwater lakes, and 43% of the land area is forest.
The north-central part of Nicaragua is a highland, the east is a coastal plain, there are many jungle swamps, the terrain is low and flat, and the west is a coastal lowland with volcanoes and lakes to the east. Nicaragua Plain is high-temperature and rainy, which belongs to tropical maritime climate. The precipitation in the western coastal lowlands is significantly less than that in the east, and there are dry and wet seasons, which belongs to the savanna climate. The annual average temperature of the central highland is 18 ℃, the annual precipitation is 1500-2500 mm, and the rainy season is from May to December.
Coffee producing area
The country is mainly divided into three producing areas, namely Sinotega Jinotega, Matagalba Matagalpa and Novo Segovia Nueva Segovias, all of which are harvested between December and March of the following year.
New Segovia Nueva Segovias: this region is located on the northern border of Nicaragua, with more hills, with an average elevation of 1100-1650 meters, it is one of the smallest producing areas in Nicaragua, but in recent years it has begun to establish a reputation as the best coffee in the country and has made great achievements in the Superior Cup COE in Nicaragua. And in the 2024 Nicaraguan COE, most of the winners are from that region.
Alpine Manor Los Alpes
In the 2024 Superior Cup COE of Nicaragua, the winner with 91.1 points of Sunshine Rose Summer is the Alpine Manor Los Alpes, which is 1600 meters above sea level from the producing area of New Segovia. It also won the championship this time because it won the championship in Nicaragua's COE in 2023.
At present, the owner of the estate is Olman Balladares. In addition, Olman also owns an Inversiones Valladares Acevedo S.A company and Buenos Aires farm Buenos Aires Farm, and Buenos Aires farm also finished seventh in Nicaragua's COE this year. At present, Kaddura Caturra, Kaduai Catuai, Bourbon Bourbon and Rosa Geisha are mainly grown on Alpine estates, while Buenos Aires farms mainly grow newer varieties such as Maraka Dula Maracaturra and Palayinema Parainema.
The success of the two estates is due to the fact that they have a coffee research and quality control team to continuously improve agricultural products, production and processing to ensure the quality of coffee beans, which is why the two estates have been able to achieve success on COE in Nicaragua.
