How to obtain Tropical Rainforest Alliance certification? What is a "frog bean"? What is the flavor of Blue Mountain Coffee?
In recent days, Qianjie heard a very minority word from guests and friends: "Frog beans"! I believe that most of the newcomers are very strange to such a term, because Qianjie seldom brings it out except in the introduction of specific coffee beans.
So, here comes the problem! What exactly does frog bean mean? Does it mean that the coffee beans look green like a frog? Or is it an appearance feature of coffee beans, like sheep's hoof beans? (sheep's foot bean is a "specialty" of Indonesian wet planing, because the machine is so violent that raw coffee beans are squeezed and deformed in the process of peeling, showing an appearance like sheep's hoof.)

NONONO, neither! The so-called frog beans refer to coffee beans with Rainforest Alliance certification. The reason why coffee beans certified by the Rainforest Alliance are called frog beans comes from the fact that their logo is a frog pattern! Then the question arises: who is the Rainforest Alliance? Does the coffee bean with its logo have any special meaning?

Since everyone wants to know so much, let's share it in Qianjie today.
Rainforest Alliance Rainforest Alliance (Rainforest Alliance), it is an international non-profit organization working in the field of agriculture, forestry and commerce. It was founded in 1987 by Daniel R. Katz, a 24-year-old New York man, and other environmental supporters. (Daniel R. Katz on the left)
In the beginning, the rainforest alliance was established only to protect the natural resources of the tropical rainforest! But as the team grew, they began to set foot in more fields! And in the following year, the Rainforest Alliance created an independent third-party certification! And the following logo with a frog is the product of this project!
This certification is mainly for farms, and only those who meet the requirements will be certified by the Rainforest Alliance! The requirement to obtain the certification is that the farm needs to implement sustainable agriculture and natural resource management measures! When the farm is certified, the Rainforest Alliance will protect the farm and its surrounding ecosystem, evaluate benchmarks such as waste management, and then develop relevant standards. the most important thing is to impose certain restrictions on the use of pesticides to ensure that the farm can better achieve sustainable development. Coffee belongs to agricultural products, so naturally it can also be evaluated! One of the most important provisions of the Rainforest Alliance's assessment is that it is necessary to adopt traditional farming methods cultivated in the shade of native forests, that is, to grow coffee without changing the original environment, it has to be beneficial to the protection of the ecosystem. When evaluated by the Rainforest Alliance, certified coffee can be called "Rainforest Alliance Certified Coffee". The packaging of raw coffee beans can be printed with the Rainforest Alliance logo to prove that it is rainforest certified organic coffee.
Don't underestimate the Rainforest Alliance certification, which is not just to let the public know that the product has been approved by the Rainforest Alliance, but also that the product can have a special sales channel and get the right of priority. So for most farmers, the existence of this frog is a very important thing.
Why is the pattern frog? The frog in the logo is not an ordinary frog, but a red-eyed tree frog! This kind of tree frog exists only in a healthy and pollution-free tropical rain forest environment, which is very rare. As Qianjie said at the beginning, the vision of the Rainforest Alliance was to protect the natural resources of the rainforest. Therefore, the Rainforest Alliance chose this tree frog as a symbol, implying that there is a place where it exists, which is a pollution-free environment suitable for survival.
There are not many "frog beans" certified by the Rainforest Alliance, not only because of the high requirements for the growing environment of coffee beans, but also because not all farmers apply for certification. So "frog beans" is a relatively rare existence in the coffee industry! But this does not mean that coffee beans with rainforest certification must be excellent and delicious, after all, the certification is mainly about the growing environment, not the taste of coffee beans! Among the coffee beans currently sold on Qianjie, Blue Mountain Coffee is the only one with Rainforest Alliance certification. Blue Mountain as the coffee emperor of the previous generation, we used a deeper degree of roasting to restore the taste of Blue Mountain coffee in that year! Silky and fragrant, the acidity is soft, and the excellent sense of balance is the delicacy of Blue Mountain Coffee under careful care.
Finally, it is important to know that not all Blue Mountain Coffee is certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Only Clifton Manor has the Rainforest Alliance certification.
