Five foreign female tourists quarreled with coffee shop staff when they were dissatisfied with the rule of "one meal per person" when they were having coffee at a coffee shop in Seoul, Korea Daily reported recently.
It is understood that this independent cafe received five Chinese-speaking foreign tourists on the 7th of this month. After several female guests arrived at the store, they first ordered two cups of drinks and desserts. The clerk thought that the guests wanted to take the meal away, so they did not explain the store rules in detail with the guests.
Unexpectedly, while waiting for the meal, the guests found their own seats to sit down and rest, saying that they would eat in the restaurant. This can embarrass the shop assistant. The clerk said that the coffee shop has rules for customers who choose to eat in a restaurant, and each guest who is seated is required to consume at least one drink.
The number of drinks purchased by the five tourists who plan to eat in the store is obviously not in line with the regulations. So the store manager who learned the situation explained the rules to the customers and told them that if they were sure to eat in the store, they would need to consume three more drinks before they could be seated.
In response, the guests immediately refused the store manager's request to spend again, resulting in a dispute between the two sides. At the same time, one of the guests asked the clerk to pack up the desserts they had bought, saying they did not intend to stay in the store for dinner. After that, five tourists walked out of the cafe with their belongings and packaged desserts.
To the great surprise of the shop assistant, there was chaos on the dining table after the tourists left, and there were obvious water marks on the sofa. The store manager hurriedly chased out the door to learn about the situation with them, and according to surveillance footage and eyewitnesses, one of the customers who had not gone far turned and raised his middle finger to him and insulted him.
Afterwards, the coffee shop operator checked the surveillance video in the store and found that the five tourists may have been annoyed after arguing with the staff. So after her companion got up, a woman spilled her unfinished drink on the sofa and table and deliberately knocked over the cup, suspected of using this way to vent her dissatisfaction with the cafe.
The person in charge said he was extremely angry when he saw from the surveillance video that tourists had spilled drinks all over the floor and that the staff had been abused when they chased them out. South Korean netizens who learned of the incident were also greatly dissatisfied and expressed their anger in the comment area.
However, one coffee shop said that independent cafes clashed with consumers from time to time because of store rules. He said that after ordering, some customers in the store would ask for more cups to pour beer bought secretly from the outside. But as a matter of fact, it is not allowed to drink alcohol in the store, and customers may think that they will act recklessly without surveillance cameras, and some older customers brazenly put beer cans on the table.
As a result, coffee shop operators will be very upset when they encounter customers who do not understand the store rules, and they are at a loss because they are unwilling to listen to advice after explanation.
