How did the coffee industry develop in Colombia and what are the well-known producing areas?
South America is the fourth largest continent in the world, which is rich in natural resources and has more volcanoes in the world. South America has the Andes, many plateaus, hills and mountains, with an average elevation of 600 meters above sea level. In addition, the state is full of volcanoes, the fertile soil given by mountain ash, and most of the area has a tropical climate, warm and humid, these conditions are very suitable for coffee cultivation, so South America has many large coffee producers, such as Brazil, Colombia, Peru and so on.
Among them, Colombia has become the third largest coffee producer in the world because of its unique topography and climate. In western Colombia, there are three Cordillera mountains stretching north and south to the Andes, with an average height of more than 3000 meters, with volcanoes, and coffee is grown along the highlands of these mountains.

Colombia is located in the tropics, the climate varies according to the topography, the eastern plain and the Pacific coast belong to the tropical rain forest climate, the mountains at 1000-2000 meters above sea level belong to the subtropical climate, and the northwest belongs to the savanna climate. With a variety of climates, high-altitude mountains, and fertile volcanic soil, it provides ideal conditions for coffee growth, and due to the diverse climate provided by the mountains, Colombia is the harvest season all year round, with coffee ripening in different periods.
But the road to coffee in Colombia has not been smooth. Coffee entered Colombia as early as the 18th century and was first grown in Antioquia and then spread across the country. But in the 19th century, war broke out in Colombia, resulting in a sharp decline in the number of coffee growers, a large number of coffee farms were abandoned, and the whole coffee industry was hit hard.

After the war, the government, through land reform, began to consolidate the wasteland and divide it into small plots, which were sold to farmers at very low prices so that the farmer could grow coffee and other crops. Since then, the development of the Colombian coffee industry has been largely attributed to the National Federation of Colombian Coffee growers (FNC).
The National Federation of Coffee growers of Colombia (FNC) is a union in Medellin that brings together 560000 coffee-producing families in 22 provinces and 590 cities in the country. The organization successfully helped coffee develop into a major export crop in Colombia, transforming the Colombian economy.
Colombia has 15 coffee producing areas, while the main coffee producing areas are mainly Cauca (Cauca), Santander (Santander), Antioquia (Antioquia), Nalinglong (Narino), Tolima (Tolima), and Huilan (Huila).
Among them, Uila (also known as Huilan, Huila) is the best-known coffee producing area, located in the Andes in southwestern Colombia, in a canyon, with a number of mountains and volcanoes nearby. And along the valley of the Magdalena River, the mother of Colombia, coffee is grown on slopes more than 1500 meters above sea level. Pitalito in the southwestern town of Pitalito is the most important coffee production center in the province.
Huilan area has a high altitude, a large temperature difference between day and night, and is surrounded by mountains, which is not easily affected by bad weather. The soil here is rich in volcanic ash, suitable climate and rainfall, which makes the coffee produced here good and stable. Front Street Coffee has a washed Colombian Cymbidium Coffee. As an entry-level selection, it has slightly soft acidity, with nutty, dark chocolate and caramel flavors, and is well-balanced and sweet.
There are many well-known manors in Huilan area, such as El Diviso and El Rorble, etc. Oak Manor El Rorble is located in Pitalito, the town of Pitalito in the southwest of Huilan production area. It is named Oak Manor because there are several old oak trees in the manor.
At present, the owner of the manor is Dionel Chilito, the third generation curry farmer of the Chilito family. Dionel attaches great importance to the development of the manor, has been learning to optimize the cultivation and treatment of coffee, introduced a number of coffee varieties, and set strict standards for the harvest, screening, grading, treatment and even sanitary environment of coffee, only for the production of high-quality coffee.
