Nowadays, in order to attract more customers, many coffee shops follow the popular trend to offer a variety of dairy or non-dairy options, such as purified milk, almond milk, oatmeal milk, coconut milk and so on. But recently, a cafe from the southern hemisphere went so far as to "find a different way" and launched the "breast milk" option on the menu.
The cafe, Sergy Boy, located in Collins Street, Docklands district of Melbourne, sells a variety of coffee drinks as well as some regular dairy products, including almond milk, oatmeal milk and lactose-free milk, news media News reported on Nov. 4. But not long ago, a guest happened to find that the store wrote "Next week: Breast Milk $5 (A $5 for breast milk next week)" under a small blackboard.
The customer said he was not a Melbourne native and was on a business trip from Sydney when he was looking for a place to sell coffee and soon noticed the lively coffee shop because it was crowded with people. When I walked into the counter to order, I saw this small blackboard standing above the pastry cabinet, listing a variety of alternative milk to choose from, and the "breast milk" in the last row was particularly conspicuous.
As can be seen in his photos, if customers want to add almond milk, it costs only 50 Australian cents, while the price of "breast milk" is 5 Australian dollars (23.46 yuan), which is significantly higher than the price of other alternative milk.
After being shocked, the man pointed to the billboard and asked the clerk. At first he thought he wanted to place an order for "breast milk coffee", but soon another barista explained to him that the advertisement was "just a joke." As an outsider, he can also understand the coffee shop's "joke", because "I know Melbourne is famous for its fashion avant-garde, so I wouldn't be surprised they have this idea!"
Although we are not sure whether the "new product" in the Melbourne cafe is joking or to attract the attention of customers, there has been real "breast milk coffee" in the industry.
In May last year, a coffee shop reported that a small Russian cafe used "breast milk" as its selling point, replacing regular cappuccino milk with "special fresh breast milk" at 650 rubles per cup. The price is four times the price of ordinary coffee in the store. The shopkeeper mentioned in an interview that, thanks to this "selling point", more than 50 cups of this special milk coffee were successfully sold at one time.

It is worth mentioning that this kind of breast milk product can not be produced and sold in our country, and may be suspected of illegal operation. As early as 2000, the reply of the legal Supervision Department of the Ministry of Health on the non-commercial operation of human breast milk clearly pointed out that breast milk is not a food resource and cannot be sold as a commodity.
