"Rose Summer Freedom", I believe this is the annual vision of many friends. Because these four words not only symbolize the free consumption of high-quality coffee, but also a slogan hoping to achieve "wealth freedom"! Why? Because Rose Summer is notoriously expensive.

After the Blue Mountains, Rose Summer has become a new pronoun for "luxury" in the coffee circle. In the annual BOP auction, the transaction price of Rose Xia has repeatedly hit record highs. Even if it is not in the auction but in the regular sales channel, the price of Rosa will be 6x 10 times higher than that of the conventional variety. I believe this is a point that many friends will be curious about: "Rose Summer", why can it be so expensive? Can it really sell at such a high price just because it tastes good?

Of course not! Rose summer is precious not only because of its taste performance, but also has a lot to do with its characteristics. From the history of Rose Xia's fame, we can know that it is precisely because of its characteristics that Rose Xia has been unknown for more than 70 years.

Why can rose summer be so expensive? Although Rosa became famous at the 2004 BOP competition in Panama, it was actually discovered in 1931 in the 20th century. Because it has been shared so many times, Qianjie will briefly elaborate here: in 1931, British botanists went deep into the Kafa forest in Ethiopia and tried to collect local varieties with high disease resistance to fight leaf rust, which has been raging for many years. Rose summer was one of several varieties he collected after exploring Mount Rosa (southwest of Kafa Forest). These varieties were collected and taken to Kenyan laboratories for breeding and screening, and were sent to Uganda and Tanzania in 1936. In 1953, the Tropical Agricultural Education and Research Center in Costa Rica introduced the Rosa experimental species planted in Tanzania to China and gave it the serial number "T2722" for file management. In the 1960s, Mr. Don Patch of Don Patch Manor in Panama introduced this variety from Costa Rica to fight leaf rust and then distributed it to the surrounding estates! It was not until 2004 that Rose Summer shone brilliantly under the excavation of the Jade Manor.

From 1931 to 2004, from Ethiopia to Panama. Rose summer has to go through such a long span to be popular for two reasons, one is that the positioning of rose summer at that time is not in line with the market at that time, and another reason is that it is difficult to feed. Before the concept of boutique coffee was released and popularized, the requirement for coffee in most coffee producing areas was to win by quantity. Although Rosa has excellent disease resistance, Qianjie mentioned a characteristic of Rosa in "it takes several trees to achieve coffee freedom", that is, its fruit hanging rate is relatively low, in other words, the yield is scarce.

For coffee, the longer the distance between the nodes of the coffee tree and the node, the less flowers can bloom and the lower the rate of fruit hanging! On the other hand, the gap between the branch nodes of the rose summer coffee tree is longer than that of the regular Arabica species, so this means that its fruit hanging rate is already lower than that of its peers. Secondly, the plants of Rosa coffee trees are tall and large, which further lengthens the gap between trees. As a result, the number of rose summer planting one mu of land will be less than that of other varieties, and the yield will be further reduced. This is not desirable for the era of winning by quantity. As a result, Rose Xia was unknown for a long time. Then here in front of the street to talk about another feature of Rose Summer, that is, it is "very delicate"! Because the root system of Rosa rugosa is not strong enough, the mortality rate of Rosa rugosa is generally high at the beginning of planting. At the same time, the growing environment of rose summer needs to have a large number of shade trees, because it can not withstand the high temperature for a long time. In addition, the pruning method of Rose Summer is also very fastidious. If we use other kinds of pruning methods to rectify it, then Rosa can not stand, it will be easy to perish. The low survival rate is the training experienced by most manor owners in the early days of Rosa planting.

In addition to these, if we want to make Rosa more delicious, we have to plant it at a higher altitude. Although high altitude can make coffee accumulate more substances, it also reduces the growth cycle of coffee fruit, thus reducing the yield again. The cost in all aspects remains high, but the output is only 30% of that of conventional varieties. Therefore, under the combination of various costs and attributes, the price of Rosa coffee beans will naturally be several times higher than that of conventional Arabica varieties. So you can know that not only the taste, but also the cost of Rosa rugosa is higher than other varieties, so the price is higher.

The sky-high summer that we see on the market was born out of the auction of the event. Compared with the quality of the product, the accompanying fame publicity far exceeds the value of the product itself. So about whether those rosy summers are worth it... As for benevolent people, they will see benevolence.
