Recently,"South Korea's Joongong-Daily" and other media reported that South Korean Starbucks stores have introduced new regulations to completely ban customers from eating take-out food in stores.

The relevant person in charge of South Korea's Starbucks said on the 14th that "starting from the 13th of this month, all Starbucks stores across the country have banned the consumption of take-out food and drinks." The person in charge said,"The new restrictions are to ensure that all customers can have a pleasant store experience and maintain hygiene and order in the store."

After the new regulation was announced, reports said that many Starbucks stores have placed signs saying "No take-out food" and said "Please enjoy the food we provide in the store." However, South Korea's Starbucks also said that infant food supplements prepared by customers for babies are not included in the range of takeout foods prohibited in stores.

It is understood that due to Starbucks 'commitment to the concept of providing cultural space, South Korea's Starbucks did not interfere too much in customers' consumption of take-out food. Only when there were foods such as fried chicken and pizza that might cause inconvenience to other customers and store operations due to the smell will customers be restricted from eating in the store.

Because of this, customers often bring breads, sandwiches, etc. purchased from outside to Starbucks on weekdays and eat them with coffee and other drinks purchased in the store. However, it has been recently discovered through online communities and other channels that some consumers abuse this regulation, eating only take-out food without ordering, or eating boxed meals in stores.

Last year, a customer entered a Starbucks store carrying a plate of fried rice cakes and fried food. Pictures of eating them with coffee were posted on social media, sparking debate about whether the move was a "public nuisance."

Witnesses at the scene described that these customers left the store with fried rice cakes after store employees stepped forward to remind them. But they were criticized for leaving their seats without cleaning up the drunk cups and garbage.

South Korean netizens who frequent Starbucks said that they had felt uncomfortable because of the smell of other customers 'takeout food."I have met people who packed seaweed rice and came to Starbucks to eat. The taste was so strong. My friends and I sat for a while and left.","I heard from my friend who works at Starbucks that I order fried noodles in the store."

Some migrant workers who have worked at Starbucks complained,"I have worked at Starbucks for more than ten years, and the takeout foods I have seen so far include wine (beer, wine, whiskey), fried chicken, chowder noodles, fried rice cakes, sushi pork belly, etc.","When I was working at Starbucks, someone took out a huge cake and asked us to provide plates and forks according to the number of people. Finally, he left after a mess, and our employees cleaned the tableware."

Based on the previous chaos, most customers adopt a "somewhat inconvenient but understandable" attitude towards South Korea's new rules.

A netizen bluntly said that in the past, because many cafes did not allow takeout food, Starbucks would be the first choice when they wanted to eat simple desserts or food. Now it seems that they will not be able to go there as often as before. But the netizen added that there has been a lot of controversy on the Internet recently that customers do not order and only eat take-out food at Starbucks, so Starbucks's decision can be understood.
