According to a new study by researchers at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), people who drank more than one cup of coffee a day for more than four years had an 11% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those who had no change in coffee consumption. In addition, the study found that those who consumed less coffee every day had a 17% increased risk of type 2 diabetes.

Researcher Shilpa Bhupathiraju said: our results confirm previous findings that higher coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Most importantly, they provide new evidence that changing coffee consumption habits affects the risk of type 2 diabetes in a relatively short period of time.
