Laos increases the promotion of local coffee products to expand the international market
The first Laos Coffee Festival opened ceremoniously on the 24th in Basser, capital of Bassai province. A total of 69 enterprises from Laos and abroad participated in the exhibition, with a total of 178 booths to display high-quality coffee products and surrounding products.
At the opening ceremony, the organizer of the event, Ben Tong, governor of Bassai Province in Laos, said that the purpose of holding this coffee festival is to publicize and implement the coffee industry development strategy formulated by the Lao government before 2025, and to create well-known brands of Lao coffee and promote Laos coffee to the international market.
Laos coffee is mainly produced in the Borofen Plateau in southern Laos, with a coffee planting area of about 77220 hectares. In 2013, Laos exported 30180 tons of coffee, valued at US $70 million, and is one of Laos's main exports.
