Pu'er City has been approved to build a demonstration zone for well-known brands in the national coffee industry.
Recently, AQSIQ sent a letter to the people's Government of Pu'er City, agreeing to build a demonstration zone for well-known brands of the national coffee industry in Pu'er City. This is the first coffee industry well-known brand demonstration zone approved by AQSIQ since the establishment of a demonstration zone for national well-known brands was carried out in 2011.
Coffee cultivation in Pu'er, which began in 1892, is one of the earliest coffee planting areas in Asia, and has shown a momentum of rapid development since it was planted on a large scale in 1988. Coffee industry has become a dominant backbone industry in Pu'er City, where farmers become rich, enterprises increase efficiency, increase financial income, and export to earn foreign exchange. In 2014, the city's coffee planting area reached 757000 mu, put into production of 402300 mu, with an output of 39900 tons, with a total output value of 1.2 billion yuan; exported 28200 tons of coffee, earning US $69 million in foreign exchange. The planting area, output and output value all rank first in the province. Nestl é, Maxwell, Starbucks and other world coffee giants have been stationed in Pu'er for a long time to carry out business cooperation, and coffee industry groups such as Aiyi, Beigui, Kangnbe, Manya, Manlaojiang and other coffee industry groups have emerged. The products are exported to Europe and the United States, Japan, South Korea and other 32 countries and regions. In December 2012, Pu'er City was awarded the honorary title of "Coffee Capital of China" by China Fruit Circulation Association; in 2013, "Pu'er Coffee" and "Simao Coffee" were registered as geographical indication certification trademarks of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and obtained the registration certificate of geographical indications of agricultural products of the State Ministry of Agriculture; in July 2014, Yunnan Coffee Trading Center was unveiled in Pu'er City. The construction of the demonstration zone for the establishment of well-known brands in the national coffee industry will help to improve the quality level of the development of Pu'er coffee industry and further improve the influence and popularity of Pu'er coffee.
In the next step, Pu'er City will strictly follow the requirements of the "guiding opinions on the Construction of demonstration zones for the Establishment of National well-known Brands". Organize relevant departments to conscientiously carry out the revision of the standard system of Pu'er coffee, improve the ability of inspection and testing, brand construction, the establishment of enterprise quality credit files and other work, cultivate a number of coffee enterprises and brands with good quality, good efficiency and high visibility, and complete various construction tasks with high quality. To ensure smooth acceptance by AQSIQ. (correspondent Gong Jian)
