Yunnan will establish a product quality traceability system for coffee
It is understood that this is also an important measure for Yunnan to promote the fine cultivation of coffee and create boutique coffee.
Yunnan, which is located in the southwest of China, has a unique climate and changeable geographical environment. Statistics show that in 2013, Yunnan Province has a coffee planting area of more than 93000 hectares and an output of more than 80, 000 tons, making it the largest coffee producing area in China. Among them, Lincang City, which is similar in elevation and latitude to Colombia, a big coffee country, has become the second largest coffee growing area in Yunnan. Lincang has 1 cafe 3 plantations below 1300 meters above sea level, and there is great space and potential for the development of coffee industry. By the end of 2013, the coffee planting area in the city has reached 3694 hectares.
In the eyes of people in the coffee industry, the rapid development of coffee cultivation in Yunnan still exposes the disadvantages of lack of local boutique coffee brands and extensive cultivation. At present, Yunnan coffee is mainly exported from raw materials, so it is difficult to achieve high quality and high price in the absence of traceability system of coffee product quality. In response, Lincang Lingfeng Coffee Company, which owns a 15300-hectare coffee garden, is trying to establish a traceability system that can screen out boutique coffee and control the quality of each link by "registered permanent residence" for the coffee base. Yang Zhiqi, chairman of Lingfeng Coffee Company, said that this set of coffee product quality traceability system includes registering coffee garden information one by one, establishing a set of perfect coffee garden management system, relying on management, protection, supervision and service team, and finally realizing the traceability and recall of coffee products.
"in this system, through innovative processing technologies such as mechanical degumming and hot air drying, fresh coffee fruits picked can be made into coffee beans within 72 hours and within a day and a half at the earliest." Yang Zhiqi said, "through the coffee product quality traceability system, we can find out when coffee is planted, variety, growth area, as well as harvest, processing, production, transportation and other information." According to reports, the system is expected to complete the census registration by the end of April 2014.
