The western and southern parts of Yunnan Province are located between 15 °N and the Tropic of Cancer, and most of them are at an altitude of 1000 Mel 2000 m. The topography is mainly mountainous and sloping, with large ups and downs, fertile soil, sufficient sunshine, rich rainfall and large temperature difference between day and night. The unique natural conditions form the particularity of the taste of Yunnan small-grain coffee. As early as the 1950s, Yunnan small seed coffee was famous in the international market and was rated as "the top grade of coffee".

In recent years, the coffee industry in Yunnan has developed rapidly, and the main coffee producing areas have actively promoted coffee cultivation. Yunnan has become one of the major coffee producing areas in the world. Up to now, the coffee planting area in Yunnan has exceeded 1.6 million mu. Yunnan coffee production is expected to exceed 120000 tons this harvest season. However, as the development of coffee in Yunnan is in the stage of extensive development, the cultivation, processing, trade and brand construction of coffee are not yet mature.

The history of coffee cultivation in Yunnan can be traced back to 1892. A French missionary brought coffee to Yunnan from abroad and successfully planted it in Zhukula Village, Binchuan County, Yunnan Province, which is the only remote mountain village in China where every household drinks coffee. Today, Zhu Kula still retains the appearance of a hundred years ago. The original production of Zhu Kula Coffee was full of the "first kiss" of boys and girls. some people proposed to name this coffee "Kiss Chu". During the fourth Mangshi International Coffee Culture Festival, thousands of young boys and girls will interpret the century-old history of "Kiss Chu" coffee.

At the same time, the 20,000-ton production line of Yunnan Hougu Coffee, Asia's second largest instant coffee producer, will be laid on January 24, 2015 and is expected to be completed and put into production by the end of 2016, when Hougu Coffee will become the largest instant coffee manufacturer in Asia.
