Hong Kong's coffee imports have more than doubled in 10 years and the market prospect is attractive.
Ye Wenzheng, head of the judging committee of the Hong Kong Coffee Industry Association, said in Hong Kong on the 8th that in recent years, more and more Hong Kong people are pursuing a higher taste of coffee bean culture, and it is expected that more coffee shops will be opened in Hong Kong, making coffee more popular in Hong Kong.
According to Ye Wenzheng, the amount of coffee consumed by Hong Kong people reached 12316 tons in 2011, an increase of 14% over the previous year, and a 21% increase over the same period last year in the first nine months of this year. The demand for coffee is no longer limited to instant coffee, the demand for high-quality coffee has increased greatly, leading to the rapid emergence of boutique coffee, and more and more Hong Kong people are pursuing high-quality coffee.
Ye Wenzheng explains that the difference between boutique coffee and ordinary coffee is that boutique coffee shops need professional cup testers to evaluate the quality of the beans in each cup of coffee before they go through siphon or follicular roasting to make coffee before guests can taste the finest coffee.
Talking about the coffee trend culture in Hong Kong, Chuang Weizhong, managing director of Hong Kong's Yitian Department Store, pointed out that there was a coffee tasting culture in Hong Kong 20 years ago. At one time, many small shops in shopping malls sold coffee beans and mixed coffee by roasting. Later, the culture disappeared, and it was not until recent years that the culture was revived.
Zhuang Weizhong said that since the emergence of many "upstairs coffee shops" in Hong Kong five years ago (coffee shops are located on all floors of buildings), coffee has become a trend again, coffee bean products have increased, and coffee tastes have become younger. The prospect of Hong Kong coffee retail market is attractive.
