On April 10, the first press conference of "charm Color Yunnan characteristic Cloud Series", led by the Information Office of Yunnan Provincial people's Government, kicked off in Kunming with the theme of "quality Cloud Curry". The reporter learned from the meeting that through years of support, Yunnan's coffee industry has developed rapidly. In 2014, both planting area and output accounted for more than 99 percent of the country's total. Coffee has become an important foreign exchange earning product in Yunnan, second only to vegetables and tobacco, ranking third among export foreign exchange earning products.

According to Wang Pinghua, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Agriculture, due to its unique geographical conditions, Yunnan coffee is famous for its unique quality of "strong but not bitter, fragrant but not strong, slightly sour". At present, coffee cultivation in Yunnan is mainly distributed in Baoshan, Dehong, Pu'er, Lincang and other four prefectures and cities. In 2014, the planting area of coffee in Yunnan Province was 1.83 million mu, a three-fold increase from 640000 mu in 2010, with an output of 118000 tons, more than tripling from 49000 tons in 2010.

"Yunnan coffee has a large planting area and high output, but its profit is low." Wang Pinghua said frankly that although Yunnan has become a raw material supplier to the coffee giant, the raw material supplier is at the bottom of the chain, with high costs and low profits.

"if the international coffee market is good, Yunnan coffee farmers will have a good time, but if the market is not good, it will be difficult for Yunnan coffee farmers. This has always been the weakness of the development of Yunnan coffee industry." Wang Pinghua said that mastering the voice of the industry is the key to Yunnan coffee going out.

At the press conference, responsible persons from Pu'er, Dehong and other cities and related departments introduced the relevant situation respectively.

Yang Weidong, vice mayor of Pu'er City, said that the cultivation of coffee in Pu'er City began at the end of the 19th century and began to develop in industrialization in 1988. at present, the planting area of coffee in the city has reached 757000 mu, with an output of 402300 mu, an output of 39900 tons and a total output value of 1.2 billion. It has exported 28200 tons of coffee and earned 69 million US dollars in foreign exchange. Pu'er coffee has been exported to more than 30 countries and regions, including America, Europe and Asia, and the industry has benefited more than 75000 households in 83 townships in 10 counties. Pu'er City has become a coffee production area and coffee trading and distribution center with the largest planting area, the highest yield and the best quality in the country, and has driven the neighboring countries to plant 300000 mu of coffee to promote local economic and social development.

In April 2014, Yunnan Coffee Trading Center was launched in Pu'er, listed on July 9, and officially registered on October 11 to establish Yunnan Coffee Trading Center Co., Ltd. the establishment of the coffee trading center enhanced the risk resistance of the whole market.

In Dehong, the "hometown of coffee in China", in 2014, the planting area of coffee reached 275800 mu, the production area reached 140000 mu, the output of dried coffee beans reached 28000 tons, and the agricultural output value reached 616 million yuan. Dehong also has the only national agricultural industrialization leading enterprise in the coffee industry, successfully registered the geographical indication of "Dehong Coffee" and was awarded the honorary title of "hometown of Coffee in China".

Chi Zhonghua, general manager of Yunnan Land Reclamation Group, told reporters: "in 2014, Yunnan Land Reclamation Group has been strategically repositioned. In 2015, Yunnan Land Reclamation Group will take greater action against the coffee section and will enter the market with a new look." Yunnan Coffee Factory, a subsidiary of Yunnan Agricultural Reclamation Group, has trained elites for the Yunnan coffee industry and is the only state-owned coffee enterprise. (Wang Yong)
