A London startup has launched a miniature coffee bean roaster controlled by a smartphone for coffee enthusiasts. Ikawa calls it the world's first digital miniature coffee bean roaster. This coffee machine can roast green coffee beans for 3 to 10 minutes.

The whirlwind system used for roasting coffee beans was patented with the support of the James Dyson Award. You press the button on the coffee machine and the coffee machine will start roasting. You can adjust the settings on your iPhone or Android phone. App includes a variety of roasting recipes that you can use to change roasting methods, such as temperature, time, and airflow. Different combinations can give you different flavors of coffee beans.

You can also recreate your own combination formula without using the built-in recipe. If you stumble upon a surprise in a group, you can share it with the community through App's social network.

If you don't have a shop nearby that sells green coffee beans, Ikawa can deliver them to your door. The company buys coffee beans from popular coffee producers such as Burundi, Ethiopia, Brazil and Guatemala. It is said that 10% of the sales of these coffee beans will be invested in coffee bean improvement projects, and the company will work with farmers to produce higher quality coffee beans and allow farmers to make more money from their own harvest.

Ikawa is in the process of Kickstarter crowdfunding, which will be used for the production of the first batch of coffee bean roasting machines, and the funds raised have reached the target. With an investment of £500 (about 4800 yuan), you can remove a coffee maker from the assembly line, which is expected to be shipped in February 2016.

Andrew, the inventor of IKAWA, grew up in developing countries, where his father worked with coffee farmers. It was this experience that gave him the idea of a miniature coffee bean roaster. He started designing roasting machines when he was studying at the Royal College of Art in London six years ago. As the first professional roasting machine, IKAWA was shortlisted for the 2012 European Special Coffee Association Best New Product final.
