Chen Jiajun scaa Coffee identifies the roasting Life of Talent
Mr. Chen Jiajun, the first certified cup judge and scaa cup judge lecturer in Taiwan with Q Grader(coffee quality appraiser) license.
If you were young and had to travel alone to the unfamiliar, illiterate Brazilian countryside for a whole year, with no other entertainment than coffee beans, would you do it? Recalling the enthusiasm and kindness of Brazilians and his own experience so far, Chen Jiajun of Chenyi Coffee attributed his achievements to luck and timing more than once, but let us deeply experience his perseverance and modesty.
Initially because of the relationship between his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. Chen Jiajun went to Patrocinio, Cerrado, Minas, Brazil in 2006 when he was discharged from the army. He visited the coffee farm run by his Japanese brother-in-law in Brazil and participated in the process of coffee cultivation, selection, identification and classification of raw beans. From then on, he was planted in the world of coffee. In 2007, the association moved to the United States to serve as an assistant to SCAA(Specialty Coffee Association of America), a renowned cup surveyor and chairman of the technical committee.
He then passed the CQI(Coff Quality Institute) exam and became the first Taiwanese to have a Q Grader(coffee quality appraiser) certificate as a certified cup judge and scaa cup judge instructor.
After returning to Taiwan, he worked as a green bean purchasing and cup testing instructor and coffee promotion in Blossom Valley Chenyi International Co., Ltd., a coffee trading company operated by himself. In addition to providing high quality Brazilian green beans, he continued to study to improve his baking skills. In 2012, he obtained the Q grader instructor certification of CQI Chinese first instructor, and has a number of SCAA coffee extraction technology and education courses. He is currently a lecturer in coffee at NTU's Yen Ching Ling Industrial Research Center and Tunghai University and has been invited to judge various professional coffee competitions.
In addition, he participated in the World Coffee Roastiong Challenge held in Vienna this year, inviting only eight contestants from different countries, and defeated the rest of the national elites in the three-day competition to win the second place. His younger brother, Mr. Chen Jiasheng, who is working with him at present, is not inferior to him. He also has many professional licenses and is responsible for related business in China.
The American Specialty Coffee Association (SCAA) is one of the most credible specialty coffee organizations in the world. Founded in 1982, SCAA currently has more than 3000 members and more than 40 countries. It holds annual coffee of the year competitions, roaster's choice competitions, barista competitions, and holds certification cup testing courses.
Taiwan Coffee Association (T.C.A.) Chen Jiajun, one of the directors, believes that the number of people who taste coffee and value its quality is increasing. Compared with the primary coffee bean agriculture, where coffee cultivation technology is gradually growing, the professional field of roasting technology is inferior to the foreign market, which has developed for many years and has a set of standards to follow.
In view of this, the classroom located on the floor of Chen Yi Coffee has also become the first certified coffee laboratory in Taiwan after SCAA strict evaluation. From the venue, equipment and other equipment, all have undergone strict control. By holding professional lectures and certification courses from time to time in the classroom, and holding baking competitions and other activities, we hope to develop a high-quality baking environment in Taiwan, so that the quality and market competitiveness of Taiwan's cooked beans in this industry as a whole can be improved.
On the day of the interview, Chen's mother, who could not hide her excitement, revealed that it happened to be the day when Mr. Chen Jiajun had just been promoted to a father. Dragon son reported for duty, so that besides his brilliant achievements in his career, he could achieve perfection at the milestone of his life!
