According to statistics released recently by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Cameroon and the National Office of Coco and Coffee (ONCC), the FOB port Douala price of cocoa is more than 1000 CFF / kg, the FOB port Douala price of Robusta coffee beans is also more than 1000 CFF / kg, and the FOB Douala price of Arabica coffee beans is more than 1700 CFF / kg.
For a long time, Cameroon's annual cocoa production hovered around 200000 tons. In 2010, the annual production of cocoa reached 240000 tons, of which commercial cocoa production was 218000 tons, an increase of 13 percent over the previous year. In addition, first-level cocoa production accounted for 0.13 per cent of total cocoa production in 2009; this figure rose to 1.47 per cent in 2010.
Coffee: in 1986, Cameroon's annual coffee production once reached 150000 tons. In 2011, the annual production of Calobasta coffee beans was only 55000 tons, while that of Arabica coffee beans was 12000 tons.
At present, Cameroon ranks fifth in cocoa production and 20th in coffee production in the world, making it the fifth largest coffee exporter in Africa. A few days ago, the government of Cameroon has formulated a plan to promote the growth of cocoa and coffee production. It is estimated that by 2015, the annual production of cocoa will reach 280000 tons, and the annual production of coffee will reach 125000 tons.
At present, more than 600000 farmers in Cameroon are engaged in cocoa and coffee cultivation, and the cocoa and coffee industry benefits more than 6 million people, creating an annual value of more than 100 billion African francs, accounting for nearly 30 per cent of non-oil direct exports.
