Huang Li, director of the Department of Cardiology of Integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine at China-Japan Friendship Hospital, said that because the measurement of blood pressure is affected by many external factors, the correct measurement of blood pressure needs to do the following: first, choose a suitable pressure measurement environment. You should rest for 5-10 minutes in a quiet, warm environment. Do not over-bind the sleeves and arms, and avoid measuring blood pressure under stress conditions such as exercise, smoking and coffee.

Second, choose the appropriate sphygmomanometer. Generally the most commonly used is mercury sphygmomanometer, barometer sphygmomanometer and electronic sphygmomanometer are also commonly used. The sphygmomanometer used at home should be checked regularly to maintain its accuracy and should be placed smoothly and should not be inverted or vibrated.

Third, choose the correct step of pressure measurement. The sitting position should be taken during the measurement, the upper arm should be exposed, the palm should be extended upward, the elbow should be located at the level of the heart, the upper arm should be at an angle of 45 °with the body, and the distance between the lower edge of the cuff and the front space of the elbow should be 2-cm. In addition, the manometer had better be trained.

Huang Li stressed that if the purpose is to diagnose high blood pressure, the time of blood pressure measurement cannot be fixed, and blood pressure should be measured several times from morning to evening bedtime. If the purpose is to judge the antihypertensive effect, blood pressure should be measured at the same time every day. Healthy people who measure their blood pressure at home > 140pm 90 mm Hg should go to the hospital to receive doctor's guidance.

Huang Li said that the self-test of high blood pressure can better prevent diseases before they occur, and through this scientific prevention, it is also an important measure to prevent diseases such as stroke. In order to control blood pressure, daily life should also pay attention to weight control, reduce salt intake, drink less, exercise regularly, learn to relieve tension and take medicine on time.
