Data show that Honduras has exported 4.5 million bags of coffee, a total of 207 million kilograms. Suazo, president of the Hong Coffee producers Association, said the figure was 200000 kilograms more than expected at the beginning of the year, generating $600m in revenue for the country. Suazo expects Honduras to overtake Guatemala in coffee exports within three years, ranking first in Central America.

Honduras is a major coffee grower in Central America. 15 of the country's 18 provinces have coffee plantations, and more than 100000 coffee growers have created nearly a million jobs in the country.

In recent years, coffee exports from Honduras have shown an upward trend. In 2006, the country's total coffee exports reached 3.8 million bags, generating income of 402 million US dollars. In 2007, the national coffee export reached 4.2 million bags, generating income of 470 million US dollars.
