Guatemala became a Spanish colony in 1524 and became independent from Spain in 1821. A free revolution took place in 1871, which established the principle of separation of church and state and laid the foundation for the rule of law. Guatemala is a sovereign and independent country with an area of 108889 square kilometers and a population of 11.24 million. It is bordered by Mexico to the north, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and El Salvador and Honduras to the south. Although Guatemala is located in the subtropics, due to topography, resulting in different climate patterns, the weather near the Caribbean is very hot and humid, while the Pacific coast is hot and dry. Only the central plateau has a cool and pleasant climate because of its high terrain, which is like spring all the year round.
Guatemalan coffee is most famous for Antigua and Vivette Nan fruits, which are more aromatic, brighter, rich in content and have a special smoky flavor than Antigua.
