Qiongzhong held the first hand-brewing coffee competition
On August 5, in Changxing Village, Heping Town, with the strong aroma of Qiongzhong's first hand coffee competition, the 2016 Hainan International Tourism Island Youth Service skills Competition (Qiongzhong Competition) kicked off.
The first Qiongzhong Coffee Competition was sponsored by Qiongzhong County Party Committee and County Government, and jointly hosted by Youth League County Committee, County Tourism Committee, County Employment Bureau and Qiongzhong Feishui Organic Coffee Professional Cooperative. A total of 20 contestants, including coffee bean growers, returning college students, restaurant baristas and so on, are coffee lovers from different industries.
For the sake of professionalism and fairness of the competition, three professional judges, such as international coffee tasters and national baristas, were specially invited.
Clean filter paper, weigh coffee beans, grind coffee beans, fill water, and fill cups. It seems that the operation steps of each contestant are almost the same, and even the coffee beans and cups used are the same, but due to the different water consumption, water temperature, and the handling of coffee beans, the coffee tastes different from each other. The judges scored according to the odor, color, acidity and alkalinity.
"I usually like to drink coffee, but most of it is ready-made. For this competition, I went to learn to brew coffee and drink my own coffee. It tastes good, but now I'm still very nervous." Coffee lover Wu Yanyun said nervously before the last game.
Contestants have 5 minutes of preparation time and 7 minutes of competition time to prepare and present coffee. Contestants have to make delicious coffee within 12 minutes in order to win the competition.
"the government's holding of this competition is also a way to improve my personal skills, and it is a good publicity for cooperatives and local coffee brands. I am very happy to participate in this competition." Huang Haiqing, a contestant from Qiongzhongfeishui Organic Coffee Professional Cooperative, said.
The venue of the competition is Changxing Village, Heping Town, which integrates the development of coffee bean planting, processing, sales and other industrial chains in our county. The selected coffee beans are also roasted coffee beans from the brand "Flying Waterfall Mountain Coffee" launched by the Qiongzhong Feishui Organic Coffee Professional Cooperative in the village, with a unique Qiongzhong Li flavor.
After a day of competition, national barista Wang Mingfeng, college student Huang Fangxiao and villager Wang Guobin won the first, second and third place respectively. In addition to the honorary certificates, the top three contestants also received prizes of 1500 yuan, 1000 yuan and 800yuan respectively.
It is reported that the Hainan International Tourism Island Youth Service skills Competition (Qiongzhong Division) has also set up four competitions, including rural tour guides and restaurant services, all of which will be held in the near future.
