The researchers studied 18 healthy young people and found that caffeine did not affect myocardial blood flow when not exercising, but exercise immediately after taking caffeine tablets reduced myocardial blood flow by 22% at normal pressure. The reason is that caffeine blocks specific receptors in the walls of blood vessels, which may hinder the transmission of dilated vascular signals, thereby reducing myocardial blood flow and affecting oxygenation in the body.
