Huawei, which is no longer the Chinese company focused on competing in the global telecom equipment market, today's Huawei, in addition to the familiar Huawei mobile phones, also has a chariot in the cloud computing market.

Huawei successfully hosted the largest cloud technology event in history, Huawei full connection Conference (Huawei Connect 2016), at the Shanghai World Expo Center on August 31, 2016. thousands of industry elites from more than 20 countries around the world, including Intel, SAP, Microsoft, Accenture and Deutsche Telekom, demonstrated Huawei's high appeal in the field of cloud technology.

At the meeting, Hu Houyi, Huawei's rotating CEO, announced that "Huawei wants to be the enabler for the development of an intelligent society". His position for Huawei in the cloud computing market is to be customer-centric, focus on ICT infrastructure, provide innovative cloud technologies, and actively participate in cloud ecological construction.

No matter how good the plan is, if it cannot fall to the ground, it is also a piece of waste paper. Only when there is action can there be a future. In a meeting, you can only show your talents, and more importantly, it depends on the actual results. After all, everyone, every business, every industry, and even every economy is being shaped by the cloud, and everyone is reshaping the cloud at the same time.

Sure enough, Huawei, after the full connection conference, has made continuous gains in the market.

On September 21, Huawei signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Economic and Information Commission of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region to jointly develop big data industry of cloud computing in Xinjiang, cultivate the industrial ecology of "intelligent manufacturing" in Xinjiang, and promote the construction of government cloud pilot demonstration and other fields to achieve omni-directional and in-depth cooperation.

On October 15, the people's Government of Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province and Huawei signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two sides reached omni-directional and in-depth strategic cooperation in areas such as jointly building cloud computing platforms and jointly building Shangrao cloud computing industry.

On October 19, Huawei enterprise Yun and Guangdong Wen's Food Group Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen listed company) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Yunfu, and the two sides reached omni-directional strategic cooperation on jointly building agricultural cloud solutions.

On October 22nd, the Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Information Commission, the Yancheng Municipal Government and Huawei signed a strategic cooperation agreement to carry out omni-directional and in-depth cooperation around cloud computing, big data and the Internet of things. work together to create a modern automobile service center, intelligent manufacturing support center, East China big data processing center, Jiangsu Information consumption Center and so on.

Government departments and listed companies have always had stringent requirements on the qualifications and technical conditions of their technical partners based on results and security considerations, and Huawei has been able to win orders in these two market segments, which shows the strength of its enterprise cloud.

These are just a microcosm of Huawei in the global cloud technology market. In the industry, Huawei is seen as the core force for Chinese brand companies to compete with multinational giants.

Mattress Culture over Coffee Culture

Huawei has long foreseen that the cloud business is a "blue ocean" with broad room for growth.

In 2008, Huawei began its layout in the field of cloud computing, which was dominated by private clouds. In November 2010, when Huawei officially launched its cloud computing strategy and launched the "Yunfan Project", Huawei President Ren Zhengfei, who did not like to appear in public, was present in person, and he specifically talked about his vision for the business: to enable people all over the world to enjoy Huawei's information applications and services like electricity. In 2011, Huawei established its enterprise business into a separate business group (BG), which together with operator BG and consumer BG formed its three major business structures, and the enterprise business with cloud services as the core rose to the company's strategic level. By July 2015, Huawei will fully compete in the public cloud market.

According to reports, Huawei's internal assessment is that the global enterprise business market will be as large as $1.4 trillion in the next few years, several times the $270 billion for consumer business and $150 billion for carrier business. At the Huawei full connection conference at the end of August 2016, Hu Houyi, Huawei's rotating CEO, once again expounded Huawei's strategic positioning for the cloud, predicting that by 2025, more than 85% of enterprise applications will be deployed to the cloud. Therefore, in Huawei's future planning, the point of revenue growth will mainly rely on the enterprise market.

The enterprise market is an unfamiliar area for Huawei, but there are already multinational companies such as IBM, SAP, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle, Google, Dell, Amazon and Cisco, and domestic Internet giants such as BAT have also settled in and built a huge empire around the world for many years. With the exception of Cisco, other competitors are almost unfamiliar.

Bosom friends do not know the other side, but want to nibble away at each other's sphere of influence, this is destined to be a war to see the bone.

Since then, Huawei has continued to invest heavily in troops.

In 2015, Huawei invested 59.6 billion yuan ($9.2 billion) in research and development, accounting for 15 per cent of sales. In the past 10 years, Huawei has invested more than 240 billion yuan ($37 billion) in research and development. As of 2015, Huawei had 80, 000 R & D personnel, 16 research centers and more than 1500 laboratories worldwide. In the past, computing resources were very scattered, difficult to share and low utilization. Since 2013, we have integrated R & D resources, implemented the deployment of codes and R & D operations on the cloud, reconstructed the R & D process, and greatly improved the efficiency. Among them, the resource reuse rate has been increased by 2.5 times, and the average operating time of each link has been reduced by 50%. The time to market of products is also significantly ahead of schedule.

Today, Huawei has shifted from focusing on devices to focusing on users and experience. With the rise of cloud computing, BYOD mobile office and big data, Huawei enterprise cloud has made great progress in many industry markets, providing financial cloud, urban cloud, media cloud, campus cloud, software development cloud and other solutions, while new orders from Xinjiang Economic Information Office, Wen's enterprise, Shangrao and Yancheng All are the latest practices of Huawei working with customers to carry out cloud transformation.

The "mattress culture" once again triumphed over the coffee culture, with Huawei's corporate business growing strongly. In 2012, its corporate business generated $1.9 billion in revenue, accounting for only 5 per cent of Huawei's total revenue. By 2013, the figure had soared to $2.5 billion, up 32 per cent from a year earlier. In 2014, corporate business BG revenue continued to grow by 27%, serving more than 100 Fortune 500 companies. By 2015, revenue had soared to $4.3 billion, up 44 per cent from a year earlier. Huawei aims to generate more than $10 billion in revenue from its corporate business by 2017.

Prepare for the era of full connection

Huawei is not bluffing about setting a target of 10 billion dollars.

Through the accurate prediction of the future development trend, Huawei believes that the intelligent society is coming, and ICT technology is the most important cornerstone behind the intelligent society, in which the terminal is the tentacle of the perception of everything, the network connects all things, and the cloud is the source of the intelligence of all things. therefore, Huawei will focus on the strategic direction of its corresponding "end, management, cloud" architecture.

Huawei has its own business logic in doing so.

Cloud has a far greater impact on society than technology itself, but also involves business models and people's mode of thinking, leading to a series of business changes.

Hu Houyi, Huawei's rotating CEO, pointed out to IT that Google, Amazon, Didi and Airbnb are the "cloud-born generation". They have ushered in an era of agile innovation, good experience and low-cost cloud, using cloud technology and cloud architecture to achieve resource sharing. Mobile Internet technology is used to better connect customers, even in traditional industries such as hotels and taxis, creating subversive business models.

The success of these new Internet formats has awakened all kinds of industries, and people are scrambling to get closer to the cloud and grow in the cloud. Based on this, Huawei believes that the next decade will be the 2.0 era of cloud, and clouds in all industries will rise. All enterprises will use cloud technologies and cloud models. More than 85% of enterprise applications will be deployed to the cloud. They will combine their core business and explore the most suitable cloud solutions.

With the development of the Internet of things, big data, cloud computing and other new technologies and new industries, mankind is ushering in the era of full connection, which will be extended to people and people, people and things, people and services in all directions. Network and data have become the fourth largest means of production after "land, machinery, labor", while the value innovation of enterprises will be established with the new connection.

Never stop thinking and practicing the cloud

In the era of big data, almost every slightly large-scale enterprise is paying attention to the large-scale evolution of ICT convergence, mobile Internet and cloud computing. The original IT architecture has been unable to meet the needs of the company's business growth, so it is very urgent to reconstruct the network, which brings new opportunities to Huawei's enterprise business.

In a report released in November last year, IDC predicted that cloud computing would be widely used in various fields, especially in the next three years, large and medium-sized enterprises will accelerate the transition to cloud computing. Gartner and Forrester also made a consistent assessment in a recent report that the pace of the transition to digital is accelerating.

When large enterprise customers are in the cloud, they pay special attention to self-control not locked by manufacturers and internal and external data interconnection. Huawei has built an open cloud architecture based on the mainstream open source technologies in the industry. Data security and privacy protection are the primary concerns of customers when they are in the cloud. Huawei has launched a hybrid cloud solution based on a unified architecture, which allows customers to enjoy both self-controllable private cloud and flexible public cloud. Huawei's cloud solutions, with special emphasis on openness, security, enterprise-class experience, and one-stop features, are becoming more and more popular with more and more customers, which reinforces the belief that Huawei's cloud technology research is customer-centric.

At the full connection conference, in order to meet the increasing storage needs of users, Huawei released FusionStorage 6.0cloud storage, which can support distributed block, distributed file and distributed object storage at the same time. Based on the performance and capacity of a fully distributed architecture, a flexible and optional infrastructure, and cloud-oriented open compatibility, help customers meet the challenges of business migration to the cloud.

At the same time, Huawei's newly launched FusionStage PaaS platform adopts open architecture, which provides a complete development, deployment and operation management environment for enterprise applications, as well as rich middleware services. For industry customers, industry components for different industry applications can be provided to adapt to different industry scenarios. FusionStage supports the mainstream development languages and protocols in the industry. It takes less than 1 minute to deploy a new microservice, and the deployment of containers reaches the level of millions.

According to reports, Huawei continues to invest in IT core technology, with leading FusionSphere cloud operating system, OceanStor enterprise-class storage, FusionServer server, software-defined network, security and other technologies and solutions, and has the end-to-end capabilities needed to build enterprise-class cloud services. It is worth noting that Huawei Enterprise Cloud is the first cloud service provider in China to pass the CSTAR cloud security certification and the first batch of national trusted cloud certification.

Zheng Yelai, president of Huawei's IT product line, told IT Times that Huawei's R & D cloud service provides an one-stop R & D testing service, which makes the company's R & D efficiency more than 10 times higher.

According to him, more than 90 enterprises in Dalian Software Park have jointly verified the convenience and efficiency of the R & D test cloud provided by Huawei. In emerging business scenarios, Huawei's container service supports 100000 container deployment. The alliance management scale of the container cluster reaches 1 million, with the largest container management capability. The deployment scale of containers can reach the level of millions, and the migration to the cloud does not require customers to change their existing applications. Huawei hopes to turn it into the ability of enterprises to transfer to the cloud, making it easier for customers to migrate their applications to the cloud.

Jointly build cloud ecology

In order to achieve the goal of the enterprise business market, Huawei must bid farewell to its role as a lone ranger in the telecom equipment market and build a new ecological environment. "Huawei wants to return to the laws of the business itself and play an 'integrated' role between users and partners," said Xu Wenwei, managing director of Huawei and president of strategic Marketing. (editor's note: Huawei's so-called "integrated" is to integrate products and solutions into the partner's solution and provide it to the end customer; second, not directly to the customer, but to support the partner to sign up with the customer.)

The former Huawei head of corporate business also took the initiative to say that Huawei cannot take all in the ICT sector and must "do something and not do something". Therefore, Huawei will only focus on ICT infrastructure to provide differentiated and competitive solutions for partners.

Huawei focuses on the ICT infrastructure that it is good at, and will not cross this border, leaving the rest to its partners. Do not compete with partners in order to win the support of more industries and channels. Together with our partners, we hope to become the best choice for our customers.

According to Huawei's internal report, Huawei's enterprise business has partnered with more than 1100 solution partners, including Intel, SAP and Nvidia; in sales and channel areas, Huawei has more than 3700 channel partners and more than 700 service partners, while sales through channel partners account for 60 per cent of its corporate business revenue. It is reported that Huawei will enhance the capabilities of its partners through the training center and optimize channel policies to provide it with more room for growth.
