Starbucks' first limited coffee and bean tasting in a single producing area in China was held in Kunming.
It is understood that in Pu'er, Yunnan Province, the "coffee capital" of China, there is a Tropic of Cancer passing through the city, which is at the same latitude as the world-famous coffee producing areas such as Colombia and Jamaica. The average elevation of the producing area is 1200 meters, the rainfall is abundant and the temperature difference between day and night is large. The subtropical monsoon climate and the special geographical environment of Yunnan give this coffee a soft herbal flavor. In December 2012, Starbucks Yunnan Coffee grower support Center was established to provide free coffee cultivation, processing and other technical support to local coffee farmers. Over the past four years, nearly 10000 people have been trained, and more than 1200 coffee farms have passed the C.A.F.E.Practices (Coffee and grower Equity method) certification, with a total planting area of more than 1100 hectares.
According to the Starbucks barista at the scene, this coffee has distinct Yunnan amorous feelings, and it is also concentrated in the tailor-made packaging design, bright and beautiful red and lake blue, rendering the serenity of Qingshan Yuandai and the gurgling stream; the tea gardens and coffee terraces across the path are embedded in the vast fields, sketching the exquisite silhouette of Yunnan Xanadu.
In the final "tongue tip Yunnan" coffee brewing process, coffee beans magically turn into extremely mellow hand-brewed coffee under the hands of Yunnan baristas. The barista skillfully uses the ceramic filter cup to show the guests the soft and mellow beauty of Yunnan coffee by preparing, preheating, proportioning, grinding and cooking for about 4 minutes. Yunnan coffee herbal flavor left a deep impression on the guests at the scene, and the fans who participated in the tasting said, "the acidity of a single product is less, the mellowness is medium and heavy, and it will bring obvious sweetness after the entrance, and the flavor stays in the mouth for a long time!" Fragrant and smooth, like the colorful auspicious clouds of Yunnan, it leaves a lasting impression.
At the tasting meeting, under the leadership of Starbucks baristas, fans and guests successively participated in the links such as "fragrance knowledge Yun Wen Nan-fragrance Lab", "Blind Coffee Cup Test", "tongue Tip Yunnan" and so on. Enthusiasts not only experienced the mystery of coffee flavor change in the coffee flavor laboratory, but also exchanged coffee knowledge on the spot and experienced a comprehensive journey of coffee culture.
In the "blind coffee cup test" link, Yunnan coffee and coffee from other producing areas are placed in the two cups marked digitally. Starbucks Yunnan barista leads enthusiasts to experience step by step by "smelling incense, injecting water, soaking, breaking dregs, picking dregs, 70 sips, close to room temperature and then sipping". Some fans say that Yunnan coffee has a slight acidity different from the flavor of coffee beans in other producing areas. With a soft herbal flavor, the palate is round and balanced.
