The 2017 World baristas Competition starts in Chongqing on February 17th.
Chongqing, Feb. 15 (Reporter Chen Peng) the reporter learned from Liangjiang New District of Chongqing that on the 17th of this month, the Chongqing district of the 2017 World baristas Competition, known as the "Olympic of the coffee industry", will officially start. Twenty-five baristas from Chongqing, Yunnan, Xinjiang and other western provinces and cities who are deeply engaged in coffee technology will have a showdown here to compete for the championship of the Chongqing Division, and then compete in the finals of the Chinese Division and even go abroad to compete in the World Barista Competition.
The WBC World Barista Competition, which began in 2000, is known as the "Olympics" of the coffee industry. it is held in different cities every year and has so far attracted baristas from more than 50 countries, all of whom are champions of their national divisions. The China trial of the World baristas Competition is currently the most professional, systematic and internationally certified coffee making competition in China. From February 17 to 19, the Chongqing section of the 2017 World baristas Competition China will officially kick off at Liangjiang TMG Art Center in Liangjiang New District. It is reported that the competition attracted a total of 25 top baristas from Chongqing, Yunnan, Xinjiang and other provinces and cities, all of whom have rich experience and superb standards in coffee production.
According to Chongqing Coffee Trading Center, one of the organizers of the event, the Chongqing Division is the last stop of the World Barista Competition in China. After that, at the end of March, the outstanding contestants from each district will finally compete at the Shanghai International Hotel supplies Expo to compete for the only place to represent China to participate in the WBC World Barista Competition overseas.
As a professional event, the preliminary competition will be held on the 17th and 18th, and the final will be held on the 19th. In the preliminary competition, contestants are required to complete the production of two types of coffee and a total of eight cups of coffee within 10 minutes, while in the final, three types of coffee and 12 cups of coffee are required to be made within 15 minutes. At that time, four sensory judges will taste espresso, cappuccino and creative coffee one by one, and the contestants will be judged by two technical officers and a referee.
