Liao Yuanlin, 48, nicknamed "Big Brother", is a rectal cancer patient who was hired to transport high-pressure gas cylinders, but the year before he retired in 2014, the gods instructed him to change jobs to sell coffee at the Kaohsiung City Funeral Parlour.
"I am extremely contradictory," says Liao Yuanlin. "it's doomed!" Liao Yuanlin said that because of reselling coffee and flexible working hours, he had plenty of time to go in and out of the hospital for surgery. Now his condition is under good control. If he had insisted on fighting for his pension, his life might have been lost.
Over the past two years, the coffee he brewed has warmed the mouths of many family members of the wake. Word of mouth says that some etiquette companies will ask him to make coffee when they hold farewell ceremonies for the public to drink.
