Editor's note: people from all walks of life pay more and more attention to stray animals. not only do the public sector promote zero comfort and adoption instead of purchase, but there are also more and more people in the private sector. In recent years, there has also been an increase in the number of compound "wave restaurants" or "wave coffee shops" that combine adoption and catering in Taiwan, hoping to provide a halfway house and find the most suitable owner for waves.

The "Wild Meow Coffee" in Sanchong District of New Taipei City was established when the concepts of stray animals TNVR and midway delivery were still in its infancy. This year, it officially enters its sixth year, which can be called the "forerunner" of the "wave" halfway restaurant. The three girls who set up the restaurant have never had any experience in catering operation. at first, they just want to create a "home" adoption platform to overcome various difficulties. Over the years, they have helped more than 200 stray cats find homes.

"Wild Meow Coffee" was launched in 2012. Xu Xiaoye, who used to work in the clothing industry, also worked as a cat volunteer. Many years ago, due to the development of the Internet, he decided to change jobs, so he and two other cat-loving friends, Xiao Meow and Xiao Ying, used the "coffee shop" as a platform for adoption. Hope to give stray cats more chances to be adopted.

Adopters are required to submit their resumes

Hsu Hsiao-Yeh recalls that at the beginning of the store, it was simply "chaos of war". They, who had no food and beverage experience, not only needed to be familiar with the affairs of the store, but also often rescued stray cats and took care of newborn baby cats. It was only then that they realized that if they wanted to operate for a long time, they had to make a choice, so they divided themselves up with the rescue volunteers, insisted on receiving only vaccinated cats, quarantined cats, not accepting milk cats, controlling the number of cats sent away in the store, and making good use of the Internet platform to slowly get the business on track.

The Wild Meow team is also very principled about adoption and tracking. Xu Xiaoye says that pre-communication is very important. Adopters must first submit their adoption resumes and then go to the store to get along with the cat a few times. If they live with their family, the store will personally confirm their thoughts and nod. "even if the other person has only a little idea that they may not be able to continue to raise one day, we will not agree to it."

Adoption tracking is not lax.

Adoption and tracking is also a great knowledge. Hsu Hsiao-Yeh said that he would not deliberately or frequently contact the owner, but before adoption, he reminded the owner to let the team know about the cat regularly, and if he did not see the owner's developments on the Internet for a while, he would take the initiative to send a message of concern. So far, the tracking is in good condition, and there is a wall in the store, which is covered with photos of adopters and cats in the past.

"it's not important to give away a few, it's important to know that they're doing well." Xu Xiaoye always said that although it was hard along the way and once wanted to give up, it was worth watching them live happily ever after. She also mentioned that over the years, we have indeed seen a change in the public's concept of animal protection, and more and more people are setting up halfway restaurants, or even offering their own rescue and foster care, and are happy to see it succeed.
