The Central Java Branch of the Indonesian Coffee exporters Association (AEKI) claims that China's coffee exports to some countries are still hampered by unstable domestic production.

"in fact, the demand of the world's largest coffee consumer has not declined, but because our country cannot guarantee the sustainability of production, some large factories in coffee-importing countries have turned to other countries to buy coffee," Mulyono Susilo, chairman of the AEKI Central Java branch, said in Sanbaolang recently.

The countries with the highest coffee sales are Japan, the United States, Germany, Italy and Spain, he said. Especially from European countries, the demand for coffee is weak because of the competition between China and the United States.

Muriono added that international coffee importers import Arabica coffee beans from Central and American countries, while Robusta coffee beans are imported from Vietnam.

In addition to being more competitive in price, China, the United States and Vietnam have the ability to export more coffee beans than our own. In principle, the supply of coffee beans to large factories must be stable. At present, the only countries that have the ability to ensure stable coffee production are Central America and Vietnam, "he said.

If we want to establish a partnership with large factories, our country must ensure that the annual output of domestic coffee beans is stable, so that coffee bean exports remain continuous.

He estimated that China's total export volume of coffee beans this year is only 350000 tons, down from 540000 tons last year.

"the decline is more than 40%. This is due to the consequences of El Ni ñ o in 2015, "he said."

Muriono predicted that as long as the weather conditions are good this year, China's coffee bean exports will return to normal next year.

"if you look at the climate from the end of last year to the present, it does not have much impact on production, but the problem is the quality of coffee beans," he said. "

Muriono said that April to May should enter the coffee harvest season. If the climate is not good, it will affect the drying process of coffee beans, resulting in poor quality, high water content and mildew.

"the consequence of this situation is a decline in production," he said. This happens in almost all coffee-producing areas, one of which is Central Java Province.
