The export price of Guatemalan coffee increased by 11.8%

Guanguo coffee export price rose 11.8% according to Guatemala Central American Daily (2017) reported on May 31, as of March this year, the international coffee price per kilogram rose 11.8% over the same period last year, from US$3.39/kg to US$3.79/kg. According to the International Monetary Fund, international coffee prices showed signs of recovery in January this year, and coffee costs are expected to increase by 12% this year, mainly due to climate factors in Brazil and Vietnam.

Ricardo Arenas, president of the Guatemalan Coffee Association (Anacafe), said that international coffee prices are very fragile and are greatly affected by Brazilian production. In addition, the exchange rate of the US dollar and climate factors all influence coffee prices. According to the Central Bank of Guatemala, as of March this year, the country's coffee exports increased by 6.7 percent to 54.12 million 6400 kilograms, while foreign exchange earnings of US $255.189,200 increased by 19.4 percent over the same period last year.

The country's coffee exports this year (September 2016-October 2017) are expected to be 3.9 million metric tons.
