After a two-day competition, three contestants stood out and won the top three, and they will go to Changsha as representatives of the South China Division to participate in the national finals.
It is worth mentioning that the top two winners in the South China Division are from Dongguan, while the second place barista Liang Xushi, produced by Guangdong Vocational College of Innovation and Technology, just graduated from here last year. The reporter learned that the school is applying for the specialty of "Coffee Technology and Management", which is the first higher vocational college in China to apply for this major.

The 2017 China barista skills Competition, sponsored by the Coffee Bean Branch of China Fruit Circulation Association and hosted by Dongguan Coffee Industry Association, is the only high-end coffee professional event named after "China". The competition is divided into four zones and one finals, which are located in Suzhou, Dongguan, Chengdu and Dalian respectively.
The Suzhou Division tournament has been completed before, and the South China Dongguan Division tournament, which started the day before yesterday, is the second match. According to the examination and approval of the competition expert organizing committee, a total of 21 contestants in the South China Division were qualified to participate in the competition, and each contestant was required to complete the on-site production of 4 cups of hand-brewed coffee, 4 cups of cappuccino coffee and 4 cups of creative drinks within 20 minutes.
After a two-day competition, Zhao Yuntian, Liang Xuyi and Chen Zhilong won the top three respectively, of which the top two are baristas from Dongguan, who will also go to Changsha to participate in the finals. According to the organizers, the finals will be held at the 2017 China Food and Beverage Expo sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce.
"this competition is the highest-standard national event in the coffee industry, attracting the top players in the coffee industry. All the contestants participating in the competition have to be examined by experts, and their own level is relatively high." Fu Jingya, secretary general of the China Coffee Bean Branch, said that baristas who get good results in the competition can also get professional certificates to help them broaden their employment opportunities and enhance their sense of professional pride. In the future, they can not only be baristas, but also engage in coffee training and start their own businesses.
This Chinese barista contest is also the first competition, and the competition in the South China Division is held in Dongguan because of the top level of local baristas in Dongguan.
Liang Xudong, who won second place in the South China Division, graduated from Guangdong Vocational College of Innovation and Technology last year. According to Li Canjia, vice dean of the school, the school set up a barista major in the management department in 2014. the core courses of this major are coffee basic knowledge, coffee technology and service, coffee shop baking, coffee shop beverage, coffee shop operation and management, and so on. At present, there are nearly 400 students in the barista major.
At present, the school has applied for the specialty of "Coffee Technology and Management" to the Ministry of Education, which is also the first higher vocational college in China to apply for this major. In addition to the professional declaration, five coffee major textbooks compiled by the school have also been published and used.
