The New Taipei City Health Bureau announced today (19) the results of the 106-year ice (ice) beverage sampling project. A total of 196 products had been inspected by early July, of which 177 products were in line with the regulations, with a qualified rate of 90.3%. There were 11 pieces of edible ice cubes, 1 piece of tea and 1 piece of shaved ice. The re-test results did not comply with the regulations, and the rate was 6.6%. The unqualified reason was that the number of bacteria and E. coli group exceeded the standard. The Health Bureau will impose a fine of not less than NT $30, 000 and not more than NT $3 million in violation of Article 17 of the Food Safety and Hygiene Administration Law. Another 6 items are not up to standard after initial drawing, have been closed or suspended from sale, and will continue to be listed.

The Health Bureau of New Taipei City pointed out that the number of bacteria, Escherichia coli and E. coli are the hygiene indicators of ice products, and exceeding the standard means that the ice products are in poor hygienic condition during the production process. Possible reasons include unclean places, facilities and equipment, improper storage of raw materials, poor water quality management, improper preparation process, poor personnel hygiene, or unclean containers, etc. The Health Bureau calls on operators to implement independent hygiene management to ensure the hygiene and safety of ice drinks for the public.
The New Taipei City Health Bureau stressed that when buying ice products, care should be taken not to buy frozen or refrigerated products, the freezing temperature of the freezer should be kept below-18 degrees Celsius, the refrigerating temperature should be kept below 7 degrees Celsius, and the refrigerated temperature should be kept below 7 degrees Celsius and below-18 degrees Celsius to ensure the safety of ice products.
