Honduras Coffee Export in 2017 will break the record set in 2012
With two months to go before the end of the harvest in 2016, the Coffee Association of Honduras (Ihcafe) estimates that this year's Hongguo coffee exports will break the record set in 2012.
Coffee is currently quoted at US $139.25 per picul in the New York market, and according to Ihcafe, Honduras has received a total of 9.4 million metric tons of coffee export orders so far this year, so the total export volume of Acer coffee this year is expected to break the record of 1.44 billion US dollars in 2012.
JennyBustamante, head of sales at Ihcafe, pointed out that by the end of July, the tenth month of the harvest, Honduras coffee exports had reached $1,218m, an increase of $779m over the same period last year.
According to records, Honduras exported 7.2 million metric tons of coffee in 2012, with a total value of $1.44 billion.
So far this year, Honduras has exported 8.6 million metric tons of coffee, an increase of 39 percent from 6.2 million metric tons in the same period of the previous year.
Bustamand said that during the above-mentioned period, the average price of coffee in the international market has reached 141.88 US dollars per kilogram, up 12 per cent from the average price of 125.88 US dollars in the same period last year.
