Japanese studies have shown that daily consumption of coffee and green tea can prevent stroke, published in Ame-rican Heart Association's journal Stroke (Stroke Journal of the American Heart Association). The study recruited more than 80,000 men and women aged between 45 and 74, and the survey lasted for 13 years, said Dr. Yoshihiro Okubo of the National Cardiovascular Center in Japan.

In the study, they were asked if they had a habit of drinking green tea or coffee, and all the information was used to analyze the association between eating habits and disease. Age, gender and lifestyle factors such as smoking, drinking, weight and exercise have been excluded from the study.

The study found that people who drank two or three cups of green tea a day had a 14% lower risk of stroke than those who did not drink green tea at all, and those who drank more than four cups of green tea a day had a lower risk of stroke.

In the case of cerebral hemorrhagic stroke, people who drank one cup of green tea a day also had a lower risk of stroke, while those who drank more than four cups of green tea a day reduced their risk of stroke by 35%.

As for coffee, another drink, people who drink more than three cups of coffee a week have a more than 10% lower risk of stroke than those who don't drink coffee at all, especially for ischemic stroke, if they drink more than one cup of coffee a day. Stroke risk is reduced by as much as 20%.

It is possible that substances in green tea or coffee that protect blood vessels or suppress blood sugar levels reduce the risk of stroke, according to Dr. Okubo's team.

However, although prevention is important, it is important to remind everyone that if the following symptoms occur unfortunately, including skewed mouth, weakness and numbness in one or both limbs, inarticulate speech, dysphagia, drooling, dizziness, vomiting, headache, unstable gait, dyskinesia, etc., it may be a sign of stroke and it is best to see a doctor immediately.

In addition, Eda, a well-known Japanese physician, pointed out in his book "Why you can't get better" that the number of people suffering from cancer in the United States is declining, and changes in food intake play a key role. In order to improve people's health, apart from launching the "5A DAY", that is, eating more than five plates of fruits and vegetables a day, its Cancer Research Institute has also conducted research on daily food and put forward the concept of "planned food pyramid".

It divides food into three levels according to the degree of cancer prevention and health benefits, and the closer it is to the top, the more helpful it is to prevent cancer, so that people can choose the healthy ingredients they need according to the pyramid.

Garlic at the top is considered to have the best anti-cancer effect, while cabbage, green tea, citrus or eggplant vegetables are also regarded as fruits and vegetables with significant anti-cancer effects.

Oranges, lemons, grapefruit and other oranges or tomatoes, eggplant, sweet peppers and other eggplant vegetables, in addition to cancer prevention, but also good for the health of healthy foods, daily intake is especially good.

Although yogurt is not listed in the planned food pyramid, studies have confirmed that eating yogurt daily for more than three weeks can adjust intestinal bacteria and improve resistance or immunity to influenza.

Cabbage is a vegetable second only to garlic and is especially rich in high functional ingredients. In addition to preventing cancer, cabbage also contains vitamin U, which can inhibit stomach acid and relieve gastritis.

Green tea contains catechins and other polyphenols, which has a good anti-cancer effect. In addition, because catechin can also play a role in inhibiting Helicobacter pylori, it can effectively improve gastritis.
