Starbucks announced that it will recall 260000 coffee filter pots in North America due to the risk of injury caused by broken glass.

Starbucks is recalling about 263000 coffee French filters made in partnership with Bodum, which is an 8-cup model Bodum + Starbucks Recycled.

Starbucks said the glass of the French filter kettle could break when the pressure increased, exposing the plunger metal rod and putting consumers at risk of injury.

As of April 24 this year, this type of French filter kettle has recorded one report of injury caused by broken glass in Canada and eight similar reports in the United States in the same period.

According to Starbucks, a total of 33198 affected products were sold in Canada between November 2016 and January 2019, compared with 231681 in the United States in the same period.

The French filter pots to be recalled, made in Portugal, are about 9 inches high and 4 inches wide, with a round design and a glass periphery, with a metal screen and a central plunger secured by a plastic frame with a locking cover and a light gray handle and knob. The words Bodum and Made in Portugal are printed on the bottom of the dark gray plastic base, and the number 011063549 is printed on the white label at the bottom.

The coffee French filter pot in question is made of recycled materials, and Starbucks sold it in its stores and online from November 2016 to January this year for about $20.

Starbucks said that if consumers own the coffee filter pot, they should stop using it immediately and contact Starbucks, but Starbucks stressed that stores will not accept returns.

According to NetEase's extra news today, the relevant head of Starbucks China pointed out that the above recalled products are not sold in China, so China is not involved in the recall.

The last Starbucks recall involving China dates back to 2016, when Starbucks China filed a recall plan with the AQSIQ, announcing that it would recall a stainless steel straw simultaneously around the world. The stainless steel straw is hard, and customers (especially children) may be at risk of accidental injury if accidents occur in the course of use, such as falls or impacts.
