Dimtu Tero Farm
Getachew Zeleke, the founder of Dimtu Tero Farm, set himself an ambitious goal. He wants to be a leader in quality, traceability and sustainability in the Guji region. He believes this will be achieved by Guji's workforce, who are small coffee farmers in Odo Shakiso.
Getachew focuses on the supply chain integration of stakeholders. In short, he works with small farmers to build a prosperous and sustainable coffee community near the villages of Tero, Jelewo Anona, Mancity and Hangadi. They became equal partners.
Small farmers receive additional subsidies in addition to regular cherry prices, interest-free loans, improved coffee seedlings, processing equipment and training in productivity, quality and sustainability. Bekele Beriso, a 90-year-old small farmer, explained: "We are partners of Getachew. We work very hard in growing coffee so that buyers can buy coffee at a fair price and reward us if they are satisfied with our coffee. "
Dimtu Tero is located in the Odo Shakiso district, covering an area of 151ha. The natural environment here is conducive to the production of Ethiopia's best coffee. Getachew works with 136 registered smallholder farmers who jointly own 989 hectares of land. Coffee is produced and processed in an organic, socially responsible and environmentally friendly manner. This approach has been validated by BCS OKO as well as NOP, EU and JAS Organic.
