Starbucks plans to increase its Asia-Pacific staff to 40,000 in the next five years.

Wang Jinlong, president of Starbucks Asia Pacific, said that the Asia Pacific region has become the main driver of Starbucks' performance growth, despite the existence of a large economy.

Starbucks plans to double the number of employees in Asia Pacific to 40,000 over the next five years, suggesting it is bullish on the prospects of Asian coffee consumption.

Starbucks Asia-Pacific President Wang Jinlong said that the Asia-Pacific region has become the main driver of Starbucks 'performance growth, and despite greater economic uncertainty, the Asia-Pacific region will continue to contribute to Starbucks' profit growth.

In China, India and other major Asian countries, tea has always been the preferred beverage for consumers. But coffee consumption in Asia is growing with the arrival of coffee chains like Starbucks.

Coffee consumption in the Asia-Pacific region hit $9.3 billion in 2012, up 66% from five years ago, according to Euromonitor International. In terms of market share, Starbucks ranks first with more than a quarter of sales.

Starbucks currently employs 19500 people in the Asia-Pacific market. According to Starbucks 'official market segmentation method, the Asia-Pacific region does not include China, India and Japan.
