Production area description

Fernando Lima (Fernando Lima) is the manager of the Kuzakapa Cooperative (Cuzcachapa Cooperative) in the town of Santa Ana at the foot of the Santa Ana Mountains. Fernando has been representing his producers (and running his own farm) for many years-helping chicken house members develop farms, improve crop quality and help them bring their crops to market.

Bella Vista (Bella Vista), located between 1450 and 1750 meters above sea level, mainly grows bourbon coffee in the shade. When we visited Bella Vista, one of the things that impressed us was how beautiful and thick the canopy was. The farm has about 85 acres of primeval forest, which has never been touched and is protected as a natural forest.

Bella Vista is located in the heart of the coffee-growing area of the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountains, with a beautiful view from Lake Coatepeque Lake in the valley ahead in the shadow of the Llamatepec volcano. The average annual rainfall is 2300 millimeters, and we were impressed by the quality of the cherries still on the trees in February, compared with the late season. The farm is also lucky to avoid the huge damage caused by Roya disease on so many neighboring coffee farms in the region.

Starting with Joseph Leonardo Figueroa (Jose Leonardo Figueroa) in 1925, he began to buy small local plots in the area and gradually built up his surroundings until today he has become a farm (250 "manzana" equivalent to about 480 acres). Since the death of Jos é Leonardo Figueroa in 1991, the farm has been owned by his son Jose Educardo Figueroa Arbizu&Company.

The farm is run by Don Carlos Mancia, and it was Carlos who took the time to show us the amazing farm.

Bella Vista (Bella Vista) has been participating in the Cup of Excellence Cup since 2009 and has been ranked high every year in 2014, ranking ninth in the world after ranking 26th in 2014. The result of this year's competition has once again added confidence to the long-term and stable production quality.
