Nestl é is increasing sustainable spending on its Nestle Coffee brand, Bloomberg reported.
Nestl é plans to invest more than SFr700 million (US $787 million) over the next decade, which will include responsible procurement of all Nestle coffee, retroactive supply to farmers by 2025, and 100% responsible procurement in the coffee category.
In addition, Nestl é is also switching to 100% recyclable packaging, and Nestl é says it will achieve its net zero carbon emissions target by 2050.
According to reported statistics, this investment is more than twice the expenditure on sustainable development in the past 10 years.
On December 3, 2020, Nestl é plans to invest 3.2 billion Swiss francs (US $3.58 billion) over the next five years to reduce the impact on the climate, of which about 1.2 billion Swiss francs will be used to develop renewable agriculture in its supply chain. The company also hopes to plant 20 million trees in its raw material source areas each year over the next five years.
Earlier, Nestl é also revealed plans to further expand its three Nespresso capsule production sites in Switzerland.
