What's the difference between Assam black tea and Darjeeling black tea? Description of Taste characteristics of Assam Black Tea
There are thousands of tea gardens in Assam, producing thousands of exquisite bulk teas with hundreds of flavors. Until recently, Assam was often referred to simply as Indian tea, but today, tea gardens and quality grades are important to tea drinkers around the world. If you drink tea, you will have at least one chance in your life to try Assam. From English breakfast to Earl Grey Tea, it is a common ingredient in many mixed drinks. What is Assam tea? Assam tea is a black tea produced in Assam, India. Until recently, Assam produced almost only mass-market black tea. Although Assam tea is popular and easy to buy, it is a relatively new kind of tea. Tea production in India began about 200 years ago. Assam tea differs from other black teas in that it is made from camellia (Camellia sinensis var assamica), a unique soil condition treatment method for plants native to Assam. The tea produced in this area accounts for about 50% of India's total tea production, making it the largest tea industry in India and the largest tea growing area in the world. It has about 50, 000 tea producers and produces nearly 49 million kilograms of tea a year. Some of them are large tea gardens that produce mass market tea, while others are small tea gardens, mainly producing craft tea and specialty tea. The small garden is the reason why Assam tea gets more appreciation and respect today. Until recently, most teas from Assam were mixed, usually in tea bags.
With the popularity of bulk tea, Assam has the opportunity to demonstrate the complete beauty and versatility of its native tea trees. Today, people can also buy amazing white tea, oolong tea or green tea produced in this area, usually expensive and unique. But most importantly, black tea gets the opportunity it deserves. Two kinds of Assam tea are usually harvested four times a year, and the first and second harvests are the best. Unlike Darjeeling, this is a low-grown tea that is completely oxidized. There are two main kinds of tea-traditional tea and CTC tea. Traditional Assam tea can be further divided into many categories, depending on the leaf type. Traditional tea is made by traditional methods and is considered to be of higher quality than tea bags. However, this is not always the case, as the final quality will depend on many factors-soil, climate, plants, leaf type, harvest time, processing methods, and so on. CTC or cut tear roll tea is a kind of black tea in which the tea is pressed into small particles, just like Indian tea. CTC is not used to make other types of tea, such as green tea, white tea, oolong tea, Pu'er tea or yellow tea. What's the taste of Assam tea? Assam tea is usually described as full-bodied with malt flavor. Mellow means that tea is rich and complex, usually related to black tea. Assam tea is a common ingredient in mixed tea, which is used to increase the foundation and depth of the tea. The taste can be light, smoky, earthy, musk and intense, or it can be chocolate, cocoa, or even sweet and spicy. CTC Assam tea is usually stronger, sharper, more malt, and may be astringent. This kind of tea is usually packed in tea bags instead of bulk tea. However, it is an excellent basis for making Indian tea, or those that need strong tea to maintain the flavor of spices, milk and sugar.
