Assam tea is usually described as full-bodied with malt flavor. Mellow means that tea is rich and complex, usually related to black tea. Assam tea is a common ingredient in mixed tea, which is used to increase the foundation and depth of the tea. The taste can be light, smoky, earthy, musk and intense, or it can be chocolate, cocoa, or even sweet and spicy. CTC Assam tea is usually stronger, sharper, more malt, and may be astringent. This kind of tea is usually packed in tea bags instead of bulk tea. However, it is an excellent basis for making Indian tea, or those that need strong tea to maintain the flavor of spices, milk and sugar.
