In the past, when it came to drinking coffee, many people chose to go directly to a coffee shop, but today, there is not necessarily a single scene of "coffee shop" if you want a good cup of coffee.

Take a chestnut:

You may drink coffee in Uniqlo; you may drink coffee in a hot pot restaurant; and of course you may order takeout coffee directly.

Under the continuous impact and popularization of coffee culture, drinking coffee has gradually become a daily routine, but also due to the needs of a diversified consumer market, the coffee industry has fallen into a "volume". Not only the offline coffee business is highly competitive, online coffee takeout has also begun to boil. Since the epidemic was reported last year, take-out coffee has become a key link between merchants and consumers.

In the past year, the number of cafes on online delivery platforms in Wuhan has increased by more than 30%, while coffee takeout sales have more than tripled, according to a report on coffee takeout consumption in Wuhan.

According to China Business report, Meituan Takeout released a number of reports on coffee takeout consumption in Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, Hefei, Wuhan, Changsha and other cities. in these seven major cities, female users consume more coffee than male users. For example, women consume 67.6% of coffee in Wuhan, 73% in Nanjing and 66% in Hefei.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that Wuhan has the fastest growth in coffee takeout among these major cities. Data show that Wuhan coffee takeout orders in 2021 increased by 311.9% compared with 2020, a year-on-year increase of more than three times. In terms of the number of coffee sellers that went online with Meituan takeout, it increased by about 7.5 per cent in 2020 compared with 2019 and more than 30 per cent in 2021.

Similarly, there is a growing trend in Changsha.

According to Meituan takeout data, coffee takeout orders in Changsha increased by 242.5% in 2021 compared with 2020. Judging from the number of coffee sellers that went online with Meituan takeout, the number of coffee merchants with Meituan takeout online in Changsha in 2020 increased by about 28% compared with 2019 and by more than 32% in 2021.

Meituan takeout data also show that, with reference to the consumption data of Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing and Hefei, compared with the same period in 2020, the number of coffee sellers on-line Meituan takeout has increased significantly. Suzhou ranked first with a growth rate of 67%, Hangzhou ranked second with a growth rate of 47%, and Nanjing, Shanghai and Hefei ranked third, fourth and fifth respectively.

In the past year, many cafes were forced to close because of the epidemic, but global coffee consumption was also on the rise during the 2020 epidemic.

The rise in global coffee consumption is mainly due to online e-commerce, on the one hand, because many cafes offer takeout.

According to relevant data, 68.26% of cafes chose to provide delivery service in 2019, increasing to 74.25% in 2020.

The information of a previous "white paper" report shows that from the level of competition between the front line and the new front line, the cost-effective coffee brands focusing on the "fast coffee" scene and the boutique coffee brands focusing on the "slow coffee" scene are gradually seizing market share.

At present, the size of the global coffee market is more than 12 trillion. From the global coffee track, whether online or offline, the development prospect of the coffee industry is broad. People in the industry pointed out that the average coffee consumption in China's coffee market is expected to exceed 10 cups in 2023. It is estimated that by 2025, China's coffee consumption market will reach 1 trillion yuan.
