The first regular trial distribution route for real user scenarios will be set to build a 15-minute distribution circle at the end of the city in Jinshan District, Shanghai, and is scheduled to start trial in the first half of 2022!

According to the analysis, as of January 2021, Shanghai has a total of 6913 cafes, making it the city with the largest number of cafes in the world. The drone base has teamed up with Meituan APP to make it possible for the city with the world's largest number of cafes to deliver coffee home in 15 minutes with drones within 3 kilometers.

According to Mao Yi, head of Meituan's drone business, the reason for choosing coffee takeout as a trial target is that Shanghai people like coffee too much! But very few coffee shops are willing to make takeout, and few people order coffee takeout. The main reason is to worry about the efficiency of manpower distribution and the impact of bumps on the flavor and taste quality of coffee, which leads to the decline of brand reputation.

If drones are used for distribution, the cost will be nearly twice as efficient as human distribution without an increase in cost. At the same time, due to the air flight, the distance of distribution is reduced "bumpy", which can better ensure the quality of coffee distribution. As a result, it not only brings more and better choices for the dining table of sea citizens, but also allows technology to bring you a higher quality consumer experience.

At present, the drone delivery capacity has been connected to Meituan takeout App to provide distribution services in cooperation with riders. After selecting the drone delivery service when placing the order, you can see the delivery path. The distribution is carried out in the form of no contact. after issuing the order, no one will take the food from the route planned by the system to the designated community outdoor distribution station, and the user can call the mobile phone to scan the code to open the cabinet door of the distribution station to pick up food. At the same time, it also plans to join robot transportation, indoor distribution stations and other services in the future.

In the implementation stage, Meituan drone distribution service will avoid the form of distribution fee! However, some netizens said that since drones appear without increasing costs, a number of human distribution personnel will naturally be eliminated.
